Electrical/Embedded Software Engineer Level 3

Summary
Teledyne TapTone is a leading manufacturer of on-line inspection systems for leak and fill level on metal, glass, and flexible containers. TapTone technology was originally introduced by Benthos (now Teledyne Benthos), a company founded in 1962 to provide custom-designed oceanographic products to researchers. Systems employ various technologies to perform quality assurance testing on high-speed food, beverage, dairy, chemical, personal care, and pharmaceutical production lines.

Teledyne TapTone is seeking an Electrical/Embedded Software Engineer to join its engineering team in the design and development of on-line inspection systems.  This position will involve engineering support for existing products, customizing equipment for new applications, and new product development. The primary focus revolves around industrial electronics engineering and applications.

  • CPLD, FPGA design experience (Lattice, Diamond IDE, Xilinx CoolRunner or equal)
  • Industrial communication protocol experience (TCP IP, Ethernet IP, Modbus, Serial RS232/485)
  • PLC interface experience via Modbus
  •  Analog hardware design experience (AtoD conversion, sampling rates, anti-aliasing)
  • Digital hardware design and sensor integration (proximity, load cells, Xrays, Acoustic Sensor)

  • Lab instrumentation (scope, logic, spectrum, network analyzers)

Software/Hardware (Working Knowledge)

  • C, Visual Basic
  • VHDL, Verilog

Experience

  • Typically 5-8+ years of relevant experience
  • Developed and architected DSP, CPLD and FPGA projects
  • Integrate software components into a fully functional embedded inspection system
  • Interface experience with multiple digital and analog sensors
  • Led PCB bring0up, debug, and validation
  • Supported technical decisions related to power, signal integrity, EMI, and reliability
  • Participated in design reviews and mentored junior engineers
  • Supported manufacturing ramp up and sustainment
  • Knowledge of food and beverage processing industry a plus

Education

  • B.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field (M.S. a plus)

Salary Range:

$90,800.00-$121,100.000
