These job requirements allow the employee to work at a Lockheed Martin-designated office or job site for part of their schedule and has a predefined regular, recurring telework schedule for the remaining part of their work schedule.

The Work

As an Electrical Engineer, you will provide technical expertise throughout the shipbuilding lifecycle, helping ensure electrical designs are accurately translated into production and that as-built systems meet performance, quality, and safety requirements. You'll collaborate with senior engineers, shipyard personnel, and cross-functional teams to:
  • Update and release electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and harness layouts based on approved design changes.
  • Verify ship cable databases against design requirements and coordinate resolution of discrepancies.
  • Review 3-D electrical models using tools such as CAD and Navisworks to validate equipment placement, clearances, and cable routing.
  • Track and manage Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), communicating impacts and ensuring timely execution and closure.
  • Develop and review as-built electrical documentation based on field changes and verification data.
  • Conduct onboard ship checks to verify installations and ensure documentation accurately reflects the vessel.
  • Support resolution of critical production issues by developing change documentation and coordinating corrective actions.
  • Participate in design reviews, technical meetings, and briefings while maintaining clear documentation for internal and customer use.

Travel of up to 25% is required, including monthly collaboration meetings in Moorestown, NJ (typically 1-2 days) and periodic visits to the shipbuilder in Marinette, WI (typically 1-2 weeks at a time).

Who You Are

You are an electrical engineer who enjoys working at the intersection of design and production. You can interpret engineering drawings, investigate discrepancies, communicate effectively across disciplines, and take ownership of technical issues through resolution. Experience with shipboard electrical systems, CAD/3-D modeling, cable databases, engineering change processes, or as-built documentation is highly valued.

Basic Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related discipline.
  • Two or more years of experience in power-distribution design for both DC and single- / three-phase AC systems, including load analysis, cable selection, breaker sizing, and voltage-drop calculations.
  • Skilled in creating and reviewing electrical wiring diagrams, one-line schematics, distribution drawings, and red-line revisions.
  • Willingness and capability to travel to the Marinette shipyard to address production issues, support testing events, and generate accurate as-built drawings.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products (Excel in particular) and AutoCAD
  • Ability to obtain & maintain a U.S. DoD security clearance at the SECRET level


Desired Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of shipboard power and lighting distribution systems.
  • Familiarity with U.S. Navy power-distribution standards,e.g., applicable NAVSEA instructions and MIL-STDs.
  • Hands-on experience working in a Navy shipyard environment or on a naval vessel, with an understanding of shipboard integration and testing processes.
  • Experience with ETAP software and Navisworks / ShipConstructor
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, meet established deadlines, and proactively seek clarification when needed.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration with customers and contractors alike.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities, ensuring tasks are prioritized and completed efficiently.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with a rigorous analytical approach to diagnosing technical problems and developing robust solutions.


Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $70500.00 - $130900.00

  • Annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs may be offered depending on the position. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and can vary from year to year and are tied to a range of performance metrics.
  • For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
