Chemours currently has a position available for an experienced
Instrumentation & Electrical Reliability Engineer (I&E Reliability Engineer) at our Titanium Technologies facility in
New Johnsonville, Tennessee.
Relocation assistance is available for this role.Chemours New Johnsonville site is part of the Titanium Technologies business and focuses on the production of TiO2 Pigment and Slurry. The operating units at the Chemours New Johnsonville site are designated as highly hazardous processes. The site is a key asset in the Chemours supply chain for the Titanium Technologies business.
The I&E Reliability Engineer will be assigned to one of three operating areas to support daily maintenance activities for I&E crews and operators. The I&E Reliability Engineer will be expected to drive instrument and electrical issues to root cause using a team-based approach. This role will include analyses of a range of equipment issues as well as maintenance and reliability support. Additionally, the E&I Engineer will be expected to provide timely, accurate analyses and recommendations for small, acute issues, as well as develop long term strategies for defect elimination and improved operations.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:- Provide E&I engineering assistance to maintenance and operations including troubleshooting, evaluation of equipment failures, and technical recommendations for repairs and upgrades.
- Develop knowledge in area specific equipment to become subject matter experts for the review and preparation of maintenance work procedures and skills development/training.
- Initiate management of change documents to improve the safety, quality, environmental impact or cost of the production area.
- Provide technical assistance to develop and implement Mechanical Integrity/Quality Assurance, Reliability, and PPM programs for the unit.
- Provide technical expertise for all I&E up to 480V:
- Instruments - level, flow, pressure (sensors and valves) etc. function/operation/reliability support
- Analyzers process or ambient air function/operation/reliability support
- Basic Electric - (120VAC up to 480V) wiring, power panels, heat trace, etc. function/operation/reliability support
- Motors, starters (MCC) and VFD - up to 480V function/operation/reliability support
- Burner function/operation/reliability support
- MOC and Capital project support of I&E Scope
- Approver for area MOC with I&E Scope
- Ensures area electrical classification and electrical safety practices are observed in the area assigned.
- Establishes guidance of technician laptops for interfacing with I&E technology.
- Participate in process hazards analyses and scope development for capital projects.
- Lead area root cause failure analysis teams, kaizen events, and problem-solving sessions.
- Prepare and audit scopes of work, estimates, schedules and equipment specifications.
- Periodically review preventive maintenance plans and procedures to assure optimum process and frequency of performance.
- Evaluate vendor proposals and designs and exercise effective judgment around functionality, cost, and timing.
- Network with site reliability engineers and technicians to support improvement initiatives.
- Provide shift/weekend coverage for start-ups, tests, maintenance Turnarounds or other non-routine needs.
The following is required for this role:- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- At least 6 months of manufacturing or industrial experience (includes co-op/internship experience).
- Working knowledge of 1 or more of the following: Instruments (level, flow, pressure), Analyzers, Basic Electric 120VAC up to 480V, wiring, power panels, heat trace, Motors, Starters, VFD, Control Valves.
- Ability to manage and lead both strategic long-term programs/projects as well as address short-term operational issues.
- Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas with a diverse team.
- Ability to manage work and undertake multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence leadership, peers, and mechanics; able to take a "hands-on" approach with operators and mechanics to drive change and get results.
- Strong computer skills including, but not limited to Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
The following is preferred for this role:- Knowledge of corporate standards.
- Familiarity with RAGEGAP, NEC.
- Knowledge of Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) and automated equipment, and the maintenance programs associated with them.
- Knowledge of Probability of Failure on Demand (PFD) requirements of the systems.
- Knowledge of SAP.
- Understanding of PSM systems and high hazard processes.
- Six Sigma and Lean certification.
