We are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineers/CMs to support our Construction Management Team manage contractor work on-site at a Data Center Project in Youngstown, OH.
Position Overview:As an Electrical Engineer/CM, you will play a crucial role in the successful execution of Electrical Distribution systems at the project site. You will be responsible for overseeing the installation and coordination of Electrical Distribution Systems, ensuring adherence to project specifications, budgetary constraints, and timeline requirements.
Key Responsibilities:Technical Supervision & Electrical Quality Assurance
- Oversight of High/Medium/Low Voltage Installations.
- Ensure all main incoming power feeds, substation interfaces, transformers, switchgear, generators, UPS systems, Power Distribution Units (PDUs), and Remote Power Panels (RPPs) meet approved engineering designs and client standards.
- Review submittals from electrical contractors to ensure the equipment/material meets the project requirements and specifications.
- Review and approve shop drawings, single-line diagrams (SLDs), technical submittals, and Requests for Information (RFIs) alongside the Design Team to ensure compliance with the project requirements.
- Verify that installations comply with local electrical codes (e.g., NEC), IEEE standards, NFPA guidelines (especially NFPA 70E for arc flash safety), and environmental regulations.
- Support Receive and Inspection activities for electrical equipment that is delivered to site.
Construction Management Oversight
- Monitor electrical subcontractors to ensure work aligns with baseline construction schedules and specifications without compromising quality.
- Review and validate monthly contractor progress billings, material equipment deliveries (long-lead items like transformers and switchgear), and schedule milestones.
- Evaluate technical necessity and cost impacts of proposed electrical change orders, protecting the owner from unnecessary scope expansion or price inflation.
- Risk Management and Safety
- Monitor construction activities onsite and ensure the contractors are working safely and according to the SWMS/JSA associated with the work they are performing.
- Support the Construction Management Safety Team, ensuring safety is always at the forefront of the contractor's work.
- Manage the LOTO system / procedures for electrical systems.
- Act as the primary technical point of contact with local electrical power utilities for service connection, substation energization, and testing phases.
- Oversee safe energization sequences, lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) protocols, and high-voltage safety procedures on-site.
- Commissioning Support and Turnover
- Ensure as-built drawings, operations and maintenance (O&M) manuals, spare parts inventories, and factory test reports are fully compiled and transferred to the facility operations team.
- Support the Commissioning Team through all phases of the commissioning process (e.g. Mechanical Completion, Walkdowns, Site Acceptance Tests).
- Witness and sign off on full-load, failure-mode, and heat-soak testing to ensure seamless failover across redundant power paths.
- Conduct regular field walks to spot installation deficiencies, manage QA/QC punch lists, and verify corrective action before final handover.
Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical construction management or engineering roles within the construction industry.
- Experience in the data center industry highly desired.
- Proficient knowledge of electrical distribution equipment and systems.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, techniques, and project management principles.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks concurrently.
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, and other relevant software tools is preferred.
