We are seeking highly a skilled and detail-oriented candidate to join our Corvid team. The position entails design, development, and implementation of advanced electrical control systems and automation solutions. In this role, you will be responsible for taking projects from initial conceptual electrical and control scheme design through panel layout, PLC/HMI integration, testing, and final site commissioning.
This opportunity will shape early concept development while working on products through prototyping, testing, and ultimately production. Successful candidates will enjoy technical challenges, often requiring multi-discipline collaboration and solutions, that result in quality products that meet performance requirements. Experienced candidates of all levels are encouraged to apply as technical and program leadership opportunities exist. Candidate will need to travel occasionally to support customer meetings and various test events (10% estimated).
Responsibilities:- Design electrical control panels, power distribution schematics, and I/O wiring diagrams in compliance with NFPA 79, UL 508A, NEC, or similar standards.
- Formulate control schemes, including closed-loop control, motion synchronization, and safety interlocks.
- Create comprehensive electrical CAD drawing packages (including line diagrams, panel layouts, terminal block schematics, and Bill of Materials).
- Perform electrical sizing calculations for power requirements, circuit protection, cable sizing, heat dissipation, and short-circuit current ratings (SCCR).
- Specify, program, configure, and troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs), and SCADA systems.
- Specify and integrate Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), servo drives, motion controllers, and industrial robotics into unified automated systems.
- Set up and maintain industrial communication networks (e.g., EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, Modbus, Profibus)
- Provide expertise related to electronic systems and their integration into overall system development (and ultimately production)
Requirements:- Candidate must be a US Citizen and meet eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (or similar STEM Degree) and at least 3 years of experience in industrial automation, electrical design, and control systems engineering
- Electrical CAD software
- Major PLC/HMI platforms (e.g., Rockwell Automation / Allen-Bradley Studio 5000, Siemens TIA Portal, Schneider Electric, Omron, or similar)
- Strong understanding of electrical standards (NEC, UL 508A, NFPA 70E / 79, MIL-HDBK-454).
- Hands-on experience with motor control centers (MCCs), VFDs, sensor technology, and safety circuits.
