Electrical Controls Engineer
Responsibilities:
- Select components and layout electrical control panels
- Select sensors and pneumatic control components
- Understand the UL508A and NEC for control system design
- Write, modify, and debug PLCs, HMIs and Kinetix servo motion control programs
- Create electrical schematics, bill of material based on, but not limited to, the instructions given
- Be proficient in every control aspect from budgeting time, cost control, choosing quality and reliable product
- Rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job
- Assist in the development of standards and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed within the department
- Read and interpret customer specifications
- Modify and create machine electrical schematics
- Possess good logical code writing, debugging and troubleshooting skills
- Work closely and collaborate work with Mechanical Engineering members
- Work closely under management directions but not limited to achieve own decisions in making process more efficient, within budget and on time
- Communicate over phone with customers to assist in troubleshooting installed systems
- Travel to customer sites for system installation, modifications, and all aftermarket electrical controls needs
- Train and work closely with entry level Electrical Controls Engineers
Requirements:
- More than 5 years of experience in Allen-Bradley PLC's, HMI's, AutoCAD
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
- Experienced with electrical/controls aspect of machine design, has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field
- Literate using AutoCAD for all electrical design purposes
- Familiar with selection and use of commercial products like photo sensors, pneumatics, vision systems, hot melt systems, etc.
- Proficient in PLC code and motion controls
- Understanding of-or ability to learn-industrial writing concepts
- Understanding of machine timing concepts
- Experience electrical schematic software (AutoCad light, SolidWorks Electrical is a plus)
- Exposure to and interest in PLC and HMI programming, multi-axes coordinated motion control
- Good electro-mechanical skills and understanding
- Interest in hands-on machine work with sensor and actuator adjustments
- Strong organizational and communicational skills
