What is the Opportunity?
As the Mobile Training Centre EHS Technical Trainer, you will play a key role in delivering engaging, field-based safety and technical training that strengthens workforce competency, critical risk awareness, and operational readiness across Aecon's U.S. project sites. Leveraging your EHS expertise, facilitation skills, and practical construction knowledge, you will provide instructor-led and simulator-supported learning experiences that help workers, supervisors, and project teams apply safe work practices and critical controls in real-world environments while supporting Aecon's commitment to safety excellence and continuous learning

What You'll Do Here:
  • Deliver instructor-led, practical, blended, and simulator-supported EHS training through the Mobile Training Centre at Aecon project sites across the United States.
  • Facilitate training related to Critical Risk Management, Critical Control Verifications, lockout/tagout, electrical safety, fall protection, confined space, PPE, hazard recognition, incident learning, supervisor development, orientation, and other priority EHS topics.
  • Adapt training examples, discussions, scenarios, and exercises to site-specific hazards, project conditions, workforce experience levels, and operational needs.
  • Use simulator technology to support scenario-based learning, equipment awareness, hazard recognition, and transfer of learning to field decision-making.
  • Assist the Driver / Operator Assessor with operator competency activities where training, coaching, or technical EHS input is required.
  • Explain practical field expectations related to safe method of approach, critical controls, energy isolation, electrical safety, worker/equipment interface, and safe task planning.
  • Maintain course materials, facilitator notes, attendance records, training completion records, learner feedback, and training-related documentation.
  • Review and recommend improvements to training content, learning activities, simulator scenarios, job aids, and field-facing resources based on feedback, incident trends, assessment outcomes, and project needs.
  • Support setup, readiness, teardown, and organization of the Mobile Training Centre, including materials, equipment, classroom layout, technology, and learner experience.
  • Build strong working relationships with EHS advisors, supervisors, project teams, frontline employees, clients, trade partners, vendors, and other stakeholders.


What You Bring to the Team:
  • Minimum seven (7) years of experience delivering EHS, construction safety, technical, craft, field, or competency-based training in civil, utility, industrial, energy, infrastructure, or similar environments. Field EHS experience is an asset.
  • Strong working knowledge of construction safety practices, OSHA expectations, critical risk controls, hazard recognition, energy isolation, and electrical safety concepts.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate adult learning for frontline workers, supervisors, and mixed-experience audiences using clear, practical, and engaging methods.
  • Experience developing, adapting, or delivering lesson plans, facilitator guides, toolbox-style materials, practical exercises, or competency-based learning activities.
  • Working knowledge of mobile equipment hazards, operator/worker interface, safe method of approach, basic equipment functions, and practical site controls.
  • Electrical Safety experience and knowledge is considered a strong asset.
  • Comfort using simulator technology, presentation equipment, Microsoft Office, tablets, learning systems, and training records tools.
  • Valid driver's license with ability to travel extensively across the United States and work variable schedules based on project needs. Company vehicle is provided.
  • OSHA Outreach Trainer, CHST, CSP, CUSP, NCCER instructor, electrical safety / NFPA 70E, LOTO, fall protection, or equivalent training/safety credential is considered an asset.
  • Class A CDL or willingness/ability to obtain one is considered an asset to provide additional Mobile Training Centre operational flexibility.


The expected salary range for this role is $95,000-$120,000 per year.
