Full Job Description
Position Summary

IEM is currently seeking an EHS Specialist for our Surrey, B.C. location. The primary assignment for this position will be EHS support of a manufacturing facility and personnel to proactively manage risk, ensure regulatory compliance, and foster a culture of accountability and care throughout the organization.

Please note: This position requires 100% in-office presence and does not offer remote work.

Key Responsibilities:

Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, provincial, and local EHS regulations including WorkSafeBC, Canada Labour Code, and environmental permitting requirements.
  • Complete risk assessments, audits, and inspections, draft reports of findings including proactive identification of hazards and implementation of robust mitigation strategies.
  • Identifying improvement opportunities for EHS programs; develop actionable plans that are effectively managed to completion.

Safety Culture & Continuous Improvement
  • Complete complex incident investigations, root-cause analyses, and corrective action implementation to prevent recurrence.

Training, Communication & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of EHS policies, records, inspections, and compliance reports.
  • Prepares and schedules training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics aligned with the EHS training matrix

Qualifications:
  • 5-10 years of progressive EHS experience in manufacturing, industrial or electrical environments
  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field required
  • OFA Level 2 (minimum) highly desired
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage complex projects and multi-task effectively
  • Excellent follow-through
  • Able to interpret regulations and implement requirements in the work environment

Additional Skills:
  • Knowledge and broad background with safety and health programs including machine guarding, LOTO, working at heights, powered industrial truck
  • Ability to analyze information, develop and deliver training programs, create reports and proven progressive experience to offer recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Excellent incident investigation skills with proven ability to identify root and contributing causes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EHS management software systems
  • Capability to present information effectively to diverse audiences and stakeholders while responding to questions from groups of managers, employees and the leadership team

Physical Requirements
  • Physically able to conduct inspections and carry equipment used for inspections.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift to 50 pounds.

Compensation actually offered for this role will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.

[Compensation Range: $45.67 - $52.88 per hour CAD]
