JOB DESCRIPTION:

THIS IS AN ONSITE DAILY REQUIRED POSITION.

The Opportunity

This position works out of our Avon location in the CRM Division. As a global leader in Cardiac Rhythm Technologies, we focus on innovative technologies that can improve the way doctors treat people with heart arrhythmias or irregular heartbeats.

What You'll Work On

Main Purpose of this Role

Implement and maintain EHS procedures to ensure compliance with all Abbott, local, state and federal health and safety standards. • Research, determine applicability and implement plan for compliance with health and safety regulations • Provide EHS employee training • Conduct EHS inspections, assist with implementation of corrective actions and track observations to closure Serve as center of expertise in Lockout/Tagout, Hot Work, Emergency Preparedness, Hazard Communication, Fire Prevention, Industrial Hygiene, Contractor Safety, Hazard Communication, Personal Protective Equipment, Electrical Safety, Biological Safety, Working at Heights, Machine Guarding, Powered Industrial Vehicles, and Ergonomics.

Main Responsibilities
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with all EHS permits and licenses required for Abbott site operations.
  • Assists in the identification of potential EHS risks and consequences of new and modified processes/systems/regulations and takes appropriate action.
  • Formulate, implement, manage and improve ALL programs related with the Environmental, Health and Safety scopes.
  • Organizational Interface: Establishes contact with immediate supervisor, project leaders, and other professionals.
  • Prepares written communication.
  • Conveys information effectively through formal and informal documents and meetings with team members, both internal and external to Abbott, using appropriate communication protocols, e.g. develops proposals. conducts reviews. provides target audience content.
  • Prepares project summaries.
  • Obtains approval to proceed with proposed action plans.
  • Contributes willingly and incorporates the ideas of others.
  • Shares resources, knowledge, and accountability to benefit the objectives of the business, understands own limitations.
  • Establish and build relationships, good communication and ensure stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Initiates and cultivates open, professional relationships with stakeholders by establishing rapport, developing an understanding of others' needs, promoting common goals, and following through on commitments.
  • Review and maintain SDS database and site chemical inventories.
  • Review new hazardous materials and check incoming materials for SDS, unique usage and storage characteristics. Works with end use to ensure proper usage and disposal. Provides guidance as necessary.
  • Supports EHS management in the maintenance of the facility's Emergency Response and Fire Plans.
  • Inspect and procure emergency response and disaster preparedness materials and equipment.
  • On-call for EHS emergencies (24/7)
  • Coordinates the monitoring for employee exposure to chemical and other toxic substances, including performing Industrial Hygiene sampling and supporting the activities of contracting Industrial Hygienist, chemical spill remediation specialist, and other safety consultants as required.
  • Investigate EHS incidents and their prevention.
  • Ensures that the required EHS training is provided for Abbott employees in a timely fashion. Provides training for specific EHS programs.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Develops and maintains procedures and standards. Coordinates with technical support personnel to conduct EHS assessments. Directs the efforts of others such as technicians and outside resources. Performs tasks such as assisting in the completion of Requests for Capital Expenditures (RCEs), EHS checklists, project scope documents, risk assessments, etc. Assists in the resolution of EHS problems.


QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor degree and a minimum of 2 years of related EHS work experience or an equivalent combination of education and EHS work experience.
  • A good understanding of specified functional area.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office applications •


Preferred
  • Experience establishing, leading, and sustaining a site Safety Committee that drives employee engagement, hazard identification, near-miss reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrated success reducing recordable injuries through proactive risk assessments and employee engagement rather than reactive enforcement.
  • Experience leading investigations and identifying root causes using tools such as 5 Whys, Fishbone, etc
  • Ability to set up a safety reporting standard and work with Ops leadership to follow that standard.
  • Strong project management skills with experience supporting construction, equipment installation, and operational startup activities.
  • Metrics-driven mindset with experience developing safety KPIs, dashboards, management reporting, and site-wide safety communications.
