A Snapshot of Your DayThe EHS Manager in Projects (EHS MiP) drives the implementation of Siemens Energy policies and the Zero Harm Framework, supporting the business throughout the various phases of a project to ensure compliance with applicable internal and external requirements and to proactively manage EHS hazards and risks. Your morning could begin with responding to customer requests and clarifying EHS-related questions for a tender project within our HVDC portfolio. This involves close collaboration with internal stakeholders across Project Management, Engineering, and Installation & Commissioning to ensure aligned, accurate, and timely responses. After lunch, the focus might shift to a recordable incident on a FACTS project, where you support the incident investigation and root cause analysis (RCA), ultimately contributing to the development and communication of lessons learned. Before wrapping up the day, you may finalize travel arrangements for an upcoming visit to another project site on the U.S. West Coast.
How You'll Make an Impact- Establish the EHS framework and project-specific management system to meet internal, customer, regulatory, and business requirements.
- Support project and site management in planning, implementing, and monitoring EHS procedures and requirements through the development and implementation of project-specific health, safety, and environmental plans.
- Partner with Engineering and Project Management to drive safe-by-design and safe-by-planning principles throughout the project lifecycle.
- Lead or support investigations of incidents and near misses, ensuring appropriate documentation, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and follow-up.
- Report key EHS KPIs, drive continuous improvement across projects and sites, and evaluate contractor EHS performance through audits, inspections, and EHS statistics to identify trends and provide management with actionable insights.
- Work primarily from the office while conducting periodic site visits (approximately 25-30% travel) to perform safety walks, inspections, audits, and other project-specific EHS activities.
What You Bring- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Safety, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, Operations Management, EHS, or a closely related field.
- 5+ years of EHS experience in occupational safety and/or environmental management, preferably supporting utility construction, electrical transmission and/or distribution, or high-voltage equipment projects. Experience developing and implementing project-specific health, safety, and environmental plans is preferred.
- Relevant safety and environmental certifications are preferred, such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP). Subject to management agreement, Candidates without either certification must be willing and able to obtain an applicable certification within the first 12 months of employment. A solid understanding of environmental laws and regulations is preferred. OSHA 510 and OSHA 500 training would be an additional advantage.
- Working knowledge and practical application of NFPA 70E, 29 CFR 1926 Subpart V, and 29 CFR 1910.269 requirements. Familiarity with the IEEE National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) is considered an advantage.
- Proficiency in incident investigation methodologies, root cause analysis, hazard identification, and risk management, with hands-on experience supporting large-scale international industrial and/or construction environments, including cross-functional projects and teams.
Travel: Approximately 25-30%, as required.
