Summary of Position:

The EHS Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the health, safety, and environmental compliance of our operations across the United States. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive EHS programs that align with federal, state, and local regulations as well as company policies. The successful candidate will lead initiatives to minimize workplace hazards, promote a culture of safety, and reduce environmental impact through proactive risk management and continuous improvement. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential to integrate EHS considerations into all business processes and to provide training and guidance to employees at all levels. Ultimately, the EHS Manager will drive the organization's commitment to operational excellence by safeguarding employee well-being and environmental stewardship.

EHS:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead all EHS requirements as an example for others to follow
  • Create a culture of awareness, acceptance & adherence to EHS requirements
  • Inspects the facility to identify, safety, health, and environmental risks
  • Prepare HR reports and metrics of various data / topics assigned
  • Advise site leadership on organizational policy matters as it relates to EHS matters
  • Plan and conduct new employee orientation to foster a positive attitude toward organizational safety objectives
  • Schedule routine inspections, and implement training according to findings
  • Develop, coordinate, implement, and maintain appropriate Health, Safety, Industrial and Process Safety Programs and necessary related training
  • Audit, analyze and collate EHS performance data and process effective improvement


  • Preform facility audits, surveys, and inspections to identify environmental and occupational hazards, to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and develop recommendations that provide solutions, remedies or process improvement
  • Manage SDS data - ensure safety in material handling
  • Proactively meets KPI requirements to reduce exposure and control risks
  • Recommend and implement new Green Processes while working closely with regulatory and corporate compliance via established auditing processes and risk analysis - work on various items with EPA, and Osha
  • Ensure plant hazardous waste -oil, machining fluid is deposed correctly lead Safey and Hazard assessments activities including Process Hazard Analysis and Job Safety Analysis
  • Attend training and seminars, then deliver material to staff EHS/HSE/SHE Skills and knowledge
  • Administer and manage Workers Compensation program and drug testing program
  • Track compliance with various Federal, State, and Local environmental requirements
  • Lead Safety Team and Waste Minimization Team programs to resolve EHS performance
  • Prepare, submit and document all EPA and OSHA requirements up to but not limited to OSHA 300 log, CAA, CWA, RCRA, storm water /wastewater, Title V, PSM/RMP, SARA 311,312,313, Form R and Hazardous waste generator as well as Air Emissions annual inventory report
  • Develop and implement training for all personnel to ensure understanding and compliance of EHS & programs and environmental permit conditions
  • Oversee chemical and hazardous waste management, including transportation
  • Support and account for the EHS budget, including timely review of EHS related invoices

Education:

  • PHR certification a plus
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) is preferred


Position Requirements and Qualifications

  • 8 years' experience in Human Resources field
  • 5+ Years in EHS leadership/management role is ideal
  • Experience at an Automotive OEM and/or Tier 1 supplier is helpful
  • Comprehensive understanding of U.S. employment laws and best practices
  • Thoroughly understand regulatory requirements including OSHA and EPA compliance standards, as well as regulations related to storm water/wastewater, RCRA, PSM/RMP, Title V, CAA, CWA, Form R, Air Emission reporting and other federal, state, and local laws
  • Must have knowledge of OSHA, DOT, EPA, NIPA and HAZWOPER requirements
  • Experience in risk management, ergonomics, personal protective equipment, industrial safety, injury, and incident investigations, reporting, auditing and training
  • Thorough understanding and working knowledge of automotive plants processes/principles, company products, trade terminology and manufacturing processes is a plus
  • Excellent presentations, delivery and facilitation skills, ability to engage an audience
  • Ability to compile and concise visual reports in charts, graphs and table format
  • Ability to exercise exceptional independent judgement and discretion with the ability to take initiative on assigned tasks without significant supervision, and be a successful member of a team
  • Must be able to interact effectively and professionally with a variety of individuals at all levels within a multicultural environment and with outside agencies, venders, contractors, and regulatory representatives

Technical/ Computer Skills:

  • Strong understanding of HRIS Systems
  • Experience in ADP and SAP
  • Proficient with MS Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
