DescriptionNorthrop Grumman’s Defense Systems sector is currently hiring a Principal / Sr. Principal Project Manager to join our E-6B IMMC MRO team of qualified, diverse individuals in the Platform Systems Modernization OU. This position will be located onsite in Lake Charles, LA.
**This is NOT a Manager role, you will manage the Projects within the IMMC MRO.
As the MRO Project Manager you will have cost, schedule, and technical responsibility for key E-6 MRO elements. The Project Manager will provide critical collaboration skills across multiple functions, consisting of Engineering, Subcontracts, Business Management, Operations and Quality to ensure successful execution of the effort.
Key responsibilities of this role:
- Collaborate between scheduling department and functionals to drive deliverables
- Create project plans, including project schedules and budgets
- Integrate requirements vertically and horizontally across the project to ensure successful execution
- Brief Northrop Grumman management and customers as required
- Identify and mitigate risks and opportunities
- Work with multiple engineering teams and cross-functional departments
- Participate in contract negotiations and contract changes as required
- Write and develop Basis of Estimates
The primary objective will be the delivery of all contractual requirements on cost and on schedule, while achieving all technical requirements and creating customer intimacy to support value creation strategies and actions. The individual will lead a cross-functional organization aligned to common program performance goals.
Basic Qualifications: This position may be hired as a Principal or Sr Principal Project Management based on below:
- Principal: Bachelor’s degree in STEM AND a minimum of 5 years of related professional/military experience that includes a background in aviation/project management, OR a Master’s degree and 3 years of related professional/military experience that includes a background in project management OR a High School diploma and a minimum of 9 years of related professional/military experience that includes a background in aviation project management in lieu of degree.
- Sr Principal: Bachelor’s degree in STEM AND and a minimum of 8 years of related professional/military experience that includes a background in aviation/project management, OR a Master’s degree and 6 years of related professional/military experience that includes a background in project management OR a High School diploma and a minimum of 12 years of related professional/military experience that includes a background in aviation project management in lieu of degree.
- Ability to attain and maintain an active DoD Secret clearance.
- Aviation background with 8+ years of professional/military experience
- Logistic management knowledge
- BOE Development
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current DoD Secret clearance (or higher)
- Large aircraft platform experience 707, C-130, P-3, 737
- Extensive experience leading the performance of tasks on schedule, at cost and achieving all requirements as either project lead.
- Earned Value Experience
- Demonstrated success leading teams/and or organizations to achieve a common goal
- MS Project experience
- Master’s Degree in a technical or business related field
- A&P License
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification

Primary Level Salary Range: $81,400.00 - $122,000.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $101,400.00 - $152,200.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
