DescriptionDeputy Assistant Secretary, Behavioral Health & Habilitation Administration Working in partnership with the Assistant Secretary, you'll serve as BHHA's primary internal leader, providing executive leadership for approximately 1,633 employees and seven direct reports, including hospital chief executive officers and senior headquarters leaders.
You'll provide operational leadership across six behavioral health facilities, forensic mental health services, and other statewide behavioral health programs, with responsibility for policy implementation, risk management, major strategic initiatives, and significant budget resources while partnering with executive leaders to strengthen organizational performance across one of Washington's most complex behavioral healthcare systems.

Experience & LeadershipWe're looking for an accomplished executive leader who brings a combination of education, executive leadership experience, and demonstrated success leading complex organizations, including:
- A bachelor's degree in human services, healthcare administration, business administration, or a closely related field. An advanced degree is preferred. Relevant experience will substitute year for year for education
- Demonstrated senior-level healthcare administration experience in a complex healthcare environment.
- Demonstrated experience developing and managing significant operational and/or capital budgets.
- Experience working in a matrix management environment with demonstrated success in working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
- A commitment to advancing equity, access, and belonging.
- Government leadership experience, behavioral healthcare experience, and experience developing legislative requests or budget decision packages are highly desirable.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

Holidays Full-time and part-time employees are entitled to paid holidays and one paid personal holiday per calendar year.
Note: Employees who are members of certain Unions may be entitled to additional personal leave day(s), please refer to position specific Collective Bargaining Agreements for more information.
Full-time employees who work full monthly schedules qualify for holiday compensation if they are employed before the holiday and are in pay status for at least 80 nonovertime hours during the month of the holiday; or for the entire work shift preceding the holiday.
Part-time employees who are in pay status during the month of the holiday qualify for the holiday on a pro-rata basis. Compensation for holidays (including personal holiday) will be proportionate to the number of hours in pay status in the month to that required for full-time employment, excluding all holiday hours. Pay status includes hours worked and time on paid leave.
Sick Leave Full-time employees earn eight hours of sick leave per month. Overtime eligible employees who are in pay status for less than 80 hours per month, earn a monthly proportionate to the number of hours in pay status, in the month to that required for full-time employment. Overtime exempt employees who are in pay status for less than 80 hours per month do not earn a monthly accrual of sick leave.
