Full Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Design and maintain drilling fluid programs (WBM/OBM/SBM as applicable) tailored to well objectives, formation challenges, and operational constraints.
Monitor and control fluid properties (e.g., rheology, density, filtration, oil/water ratio, alkalinity, chlorides, solids control performance) to maintain parameters within program limits.
Conduct and interpret lab testing and field measurements; ensure samples, test methods, and reporting meet quality expectations.
Troubleshoot fluid-related drilling issues such as stuck pipe, losses, wellbore instability, contamination, dilution, solids management challenges, and ECD management, providing clear recommendations and follow-through.
Coordinate chemical/additive usage and treatment plans; optimize consumption while sustaining performance and cost effectiveness.
Interface with rig and office stakeholders (drilling contractor, operator reps, solids control, cementing/completions as needed) to align execution and manage changes.
Maintain accurate documentation including daily mud reports, inventories, cost tracking, and any deviations/lessons learned.
Support HSE compliance by ensuring safe handling, storage, transport, and disposal of mud products and waste streams; reinforce safe work practices on location.
Drive continuous improvement using post-well reviews, KPI tracking, and structured problem-solving to improve performance and reliability.
