Job DescriptionThe OpportunityBuild the Future with UsWSP is currently seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative CAD Technician to join our Ontario Highway Design Team with their base office in one of three locations (Ottawa, Thornhill, or Mississauga). The successful candidate will be responsible for contributing to the delivery of multidiscipline
highway design projects (ranging from low traffic volume two lane secondary highways to high traffic volume multi-lane freeways).
Your Impact- Be trained in all aspects of the technical delivery of highway and drainage designs, including design software such as but not limited to; InRoads, OpenRoads, MicroStation, Project Wise, Civil 3D, AutoCAD, AutoTurn, Microsoft Project, Excel, BIM Software (Navisworks, Dynamo, Power BI) etc.
- Prepare, revise, and maintain detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings for highways, bridges, and municipal infrastructure projects using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and/or ORD.
- Coordinate with project teams to ensure all drawings reflect the most current information and standards.
- Maintain drawing standards, file naming conventions, and folder structures for efficient project delivery.
- Conduct quality control reviews to ensure technical compliance and adherence to client and regulatory standards.
- Support digital terrain modeling and integration of survey data as required.
- Upload and manage large CAD files on SharePoint, ProjectWise, Autodesk Construction Cloud or other project collaboration platforms.
- Respond to requests for information and provide timely updates to project managers and external partners.
- Participate in internal and external design meetings, providing technical input and ensuring alignment across disciplines.
- Implement feedback from project reviews and client comments to continuously improve deliverables.
The Skills That Set You Apart- Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Architectural Technology, or a related field
- Work experience in highway/roadway design
- Familiarity with project collaboration tools such as SharePoint
- BIM experience is an asset
- Registered with OACETT is an asset
- An intent to be a Certified Engineering Technician and/or Technologist in Ontario as soon as you are eligible
- Effective Communication and interpersonal skills
- A team player with a willingness to collaborate and help others
- Willingness to learn and adapt to evolving digital technologies and methodologies
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet project deadlines
- Valid G Driver's license is an asset
CompensationAB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $89 800 - $118 900
MB & ON: $81 900 - $112 800
NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $81 100 - $107 700
