Job Description
The NIEHS WTP requires a Subject Matter Expert in DOE nuclear workforce training. This

individual shall serve as a subject matter expert on education and training on nuclear

facility construction, demolition, and waste cleanup related work to promote and

facilitate safety training, and shall coordinate and enhance collaboration with the NIEHS

WTP, DOE, and affiliated organizations.

Activities shall include, but not be limited to:

- Coordinate and enhance collaboration with NIEHS WTP, DOE, and affiliated

organizations leadership, as a subject matter expert on education and training on

nuclear facility construction, demolition, and waste cleanup related work to promote

and facilitate safety training.

- Analyze current health and safety regulations and policies that impact the health and

safety of DOE workers and identify areas that could be addressed with health and safety

training.

- Inform WTP staff of relevant changes in the DOE complex and current trends and

changes in DOE technology and update health and safety materials with these changes

(e.g. Microreactors, AI in the workplace).

- Analyze and evaluate on a quantitative or qualitative basis the effectiveness of current

training processes or programs to identify gaps and needs that can be filled with NIEHS

grant recipient resources.

- Create an enhanced DOE/NIEHS Safety Training Delivery Plan to promote compliance,

reciprocity, and a safety conscience work environment at key DOE Environment

Management (EM) cleanup sites between NIEHS grant recipients and DOE contractors.

- Develop, coordinate, and implement a communications and training partnership plan to

augment existing processes to encourage delivery of NIEHS WTP grant recipient

provided safety and training courses to with the DOE contractor community.

- Coordinate and promote NIEHS WTP training resources through communications and

participation at various health and safety meetings/conferences throughout the DOE

enterprise.

- Identify and develop communications tools to improve understanding of the NIEHS WTP

DOE program as a training resource.

- Facilitate the delivery of NIEHS grant recipient provided safety and health training

courses as a point of contact of the program with contractors, grant recipients, and DOE

programs.

- Develop products and documents related to coordinating and enhancing collaboration

with NIEHS WTP, DOE, and affiliated organizations' leadership.

- Review and provide recommendations on how changes in health and safety regulations

and policies impact the health and safety of DOE workers and identify areas that could

be addressed with health and safety training.

- Ad-Hoc products and documents related to developing, coordinating, and implementing

a communications and training partnership plan to augment existing processes,

communications tools to identify and develop an improved understanding of the NIEHS

WTP DOE program, and coordinating and promoting NIEHS WTP safety and health

training resources.

- Assist with drafting of WTP/DOE annual report

- Participate in ad-Hoc and scheduled WTP staff meetings, DOE partner meetings, or

other key meetings.

- Increase focus on training of security and other support based on upgraded security

status at federal facilities.

- Operational and Situational Awareness training of hazards of new employees taking

over sensitive and high-risk positions with a focus of addressing safety culture (TLP 100,

150 and 200 courses)
