Please note that the Department of Corrections must verify proof of higher education for any degree earned (if applicable) regardless of vacancy title before any offer can be extended.Position OverviewThe Illinois Department of Corrections is looking for a candidate to serve as the Northern Region Mental Health Auditor and Trainer. This position will compile narrative and statistical data, conduct mental health training and review of all mental health related trainings and quality assurance tools, and serve as liaison of Mental Health Quality Improvement services. In addition, this position will maintain records and reports of corrective action procedures, employee compliances and related matters. We encourage all qualified individuals to apply.
Essential Functions- Serves as the DOC Northern Region Mental Health Auditor and Trainer.
- Compiles narrative and statistical data resulting from quality assurance activities.
- Conducts mental health training and review of all mental health related trainings and quality assurance tools.
- Serves as liaison of Mental Health Quality Improvement services between Health Services, facility clinical services, operational services and all mental health contractual services.
- Maintains records and reports of corrective action procedures, employee compliances and related matters.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties
enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to a doctoral degree in psychology from a recognized college or university supplemented by two (2) years' professional psychology experience. For candidates not possessing these qualifications, a master's degree in psychology from a recognized college or university is a minimum requirement. If the minimum educational requirement is met, five (5) years' qualifying professional psychology experience may be substituted for the doctoral degree in psychology and two (2) years' experience.
- Requires licensure as a Clinical Psychologist by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
Preferred Qualifications- Prefers at least five (5) years of professional experience preparing complex written and oral reports.
- Prefers at least five (5) years of professional experience in the application of psychology to social and emotional disturbances, mental health disorders, and rehabilitation of adults.
- Prefers at least five (5) years of professional experience in the delivery of methods and principles followed in clinical or counseling psychology.
- Prefers at least five (5) years of professional experience working with staff members and recipients in a mental health treatment program.
- Prefers at least three (3) years of professional experience training staff in psychological principles and practices.
- Prefers at least three (3) years of professional experience assisting in coordinating a psychological program with the social service and other programs of a state or private institution.
- Prefers at least three (3) years of professional experience instructing others in diagnostic, therapeutic remedial, counseling, and research techniques.
- Prefers at least three (3) years of professional experience carrying out complex psychological research and planning evaluation projects as developments require.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of professional experience serving in a leadership capacity to less experienced professional care staff.
Conditions of Employment- Required to maintain a current, active licensure as a Clinical Psychologist by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
- Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
- Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
- Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of position held, is prohibited.
- Required to utilize digital technology, tools, platforms, and processes in managing and supporting various digital enhancements for greater efficiency, productivity, and digital transformation efforts within the department.
