About the Role:

The Director of IT serves as the dedicated technology leader for the division, responsible for aligning systems, infrastructure, and data strategy with business objectives and operational performance. Acting as the division's head of IT and strategic advisor to executive leadership, this role defines and executes a multi-year technology roadmap that enhances productivity, improves data visibility, and drives scalability across operations. The position holds accountability for evaluating and optimizing core transportation systems, including potential platform transformation, while ensuring technology investments deliver measurable operational and financial impact. In addition to leading staff, projects, and vendor partnerships, this role positions technology as a competitive differentiator for the division

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:
  • Develop and implement valuable strategies that align with the organization's objectives.
  • Provide ideas and collaborate with operational leadership.
  • Understanding how dispatch, warehouse, planning and execution effect the life cycle of an order and drive success.
  • Drive operational excellence by leveraging systems and technology to optimize processes and outcomes.
  • Lead change management initiatives to ensure smooth adoption of new processes, tools, and operational models across the organization.

Management of IT Operations:
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the technology department or teams. This includes products and support.
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert on critical systems, ensuring they deliver measurable impact on operational performance.
  • Continuously assess opportunities to improve efficiency, reliability, and scalability of IT services to support business goals.

Project & Budget Management:
  • Manage technology focus on projects and enhancements.
  • Develop and maintain the budget for both operational expenses and capital investments.
  • Optimize resource allocation to maximize ROI and support the execution of the strategic plan.

Vendor Management:
  • Supervise the use of vendors and services to provide applications, network, systems, hardware and security needs
  • Work with IT shared services for Odyssey available resources.
  • Assist negotiations of vendor contracts with procurement oversight.
  • Monitor vendor performance to ensure operational excellence

Change Management & Operational Impact:
  • Champion enterprise-wide adoption of technology and process improvements, integrating change management practices to drive engagement and minimize disruption.
  • Use application expertise to assess impact on operations, identify improvement opportunities, and implement system-driven solutions that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and decision-making.


Ideal Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Must have Logistics or Transportation industry experience to be considered.
  • 12+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, including senior-level roles within logistics or transportation environments.
  • Demonstrated experience leading major TMS or enterprise system implementations and aligning technology investments to operational and financial performance.
  • Strong strategic planning capabilities with the ability to translate business objectives into technology roadmaps.
  • Experience in logistics, TMS, dispatch, and warehouse applications necessary for success.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven mindset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
  • Experience in technologies supporting logistics or warehousing is preferred.
