DescriptionThe Department of Surgery at Stony Brook University Hospital is seeking an accomplished academic surgeon to serve as Chief of the Division of Colon & Rectal Surgery. This leadership opportunity is ideal for a candidate committed to clinical excellence, surgical innovation, education, and research within a growing academic medical center.
The Chief will lead and expand a comprehensive colorectal surgery program with expertise in robotic, minimally invasive, laparoscopic, and endoscopic techniques. Responsibilities include overseeing clinical operations, leading division expansion efforts, supporting faculty development, advancing research initiatives, and educating residents, fellows, and medical students.
QualificationsRequired Qualifications- MD, DO, or foreign equivalent degree
- Board Certified in Colon & Rectal Surgery
- Fellowship training in Colon & Rectal Surgery
- Eligible for or possession of a New York State medical license
- Demonstrated leadership experience in an academic or high-volume clinical setting
- Strong clinical expertise in robotic, laparoscopic, and endoscopic colorectal surgery
- Commitment to resident and fellow education
- Academic accomplishments consistent with appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor level
Preferred Qualifications- National or regional reputation in Colon & Rectal Surgery
- Experience building or leading multidisciplinary colorectal programs
- Record of scholarly activity including peer-reviewed publications and presentations
- Existing or prior research funding
- Experience with clinical trials, quality initiatives, or outcomes research
