Full Job Description
As a District Vice President, you will provide strategic direction and leadership for assigned district and is responsible for short- and long-term growth and profitability of the district. Direct, administer, and coordinate the activities of the district in accordance with the policies, goals, and objectives established by Corporate. Make recommendations regarding the development and implementation of Company policies and goals relating to sales, marketing, operations, employees, financial performance, and growth.

In this role you will:
  • Implement the Corporate strategies and initiatives on a district-wide basis
  • Analyze the actual financial performance of assigned district against budget with the objective of meeting or exceeding established targets such as sales, gross margin, gross margin rate, SG&A, merchandise investment, DSO, operating income, net income, and growth initiatives.
  • Establish an effective, comprehensive business strategy for assigned district; analyze plans for and manage the profitability of the district by leveraging all available resources.
  • Evaluate industry and business trends for potential impact on the district; identify key business opportunities and potential threats within the marketplace.
  • Responsible to ensure district has implemented effective recruiting, staffing, employee development, performance management, and succession planning programs.
  • Clearly and concisely communicate appropriate information, including Corporate/district results, business strategies, and performance expectations to employees on a regular basis. Provide feedback to appropriate Corporate Vice Presidents.
  • Make recommendations to open and/or close locations based on the marketplace, profitability, and other business needs and strategies.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key customers and suppliers so that the Company is properly positioned within the marketplace; provide guidance and support in the retention of profitable business.
  • Ensure assigned district maintains a consistent focus on delivering high quality customer service.


What you bring to the table:
  • 11+ years progressively responsible business or wholesale distribution industry experience
  • 4 year degree preferred
  • Knowledge of the wholesale distribution industry
  • Knowledge of financial analysis methods and techniques
  • Experience with continuous improvement techniques and practices
  • Leadership and supervisory skills; able to be an effective member of and lead complex project teams
  • Analytical, mathematical, critical thinking, and problem solving skills; makes quality fact-based decisions using appropriate information
  • Written, oral, and presentation skills; effectively interact at all levels and across diverse cultures
  • Strategic thinker able to synthesize the most complex business/financial data, and develop innovative solutions
  • Ability to leverage Corporate, district, and branch resources to win profitable business
  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to develop and maintain relationships with key customers and suppliers
  • Ability to facilitate progressive change
  • Extensive travel required


Pay Details:

The expected salary for this position is starting at $208,000.00 annually depending on experience. This position is also bonus eligible based on specific and relevant business metrics.

This role requires the use of your personal vehicle for business purposes. Graybar offers a Fixed and Variable Rate (FAVR) reimbursement program to support eligible drivers. This program allows you to choose and drive your own vehicle, rather than a company-assigned car, and your reimbursements can help you build equity in your vehicle over time.
