Job DescriptionOverview We are seeking a
Distribution Designer to join our team in
Arizona or the Southwest region. The Distribution Designer reports to our Power Delivery Engineering Manager and the position requires working independently on fast paced technically complex design projects. Distribution Designers are responsible for supporting Distribution engineering project teams, with the preparation of field notes, specifications and drawings for the routing, design and execution of Distribution level projects.
Your role - Work within a Distribution team to develop efficient and reliable detailed designs of overhead and /or underground electric Distribution systems.
- Coordinate design activities to maintain project schedules, budget and quality requirements to ensure successful project completion.
- Perform site visits and system walkdowns, estimating, and attending project meetings.
- Accountable to provide design activities in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
- Design of Distribution level construction packages for both overhead and underground construction, including selection of Distribution system equipment, and utilizing GIS information to aide in design.
- Preparation of specifications for material and equipment selection.
- Deliver accurate and thorough electrical designs that will meet industry standards and specifications, and meet prudent design practices.
- Review internal and external designs for code compliance, good design practice and constructability.
- Coordinate design activities with other multi-discipline project team members.
- Provide construction support including resolving site queries, attending site meetings and performing site inspections during the construction phase of projects.
- Maintain complete project documentation with respect to all design packages, as-built requirements and return data information.
- Maintain good working relationship with internal groups that support projects such as other engineering disciplines, Drafting, Project Management etc.
About you - Drafting diploma from a recognized technical institute or equivalent work experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture or equivalent technical discipline, or Associate's degree plus a minimum of eight years' progressive drafting and design experience, including at least two as a Designer, or HS diploma (or equivalent) plus a minimum of ten years progressive drafting and design experience.
- Proficient in the use of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
- Experience with ProjectWise document management software.
- Prior utility or utility consulting experience is a plus.
- Strong client focus.
- A high level of interpersonal communication skills, including a strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to perform independently and in a team environment and provide project ownership.

Additional information Expected compensation range is between
$35.00 - $55.00 hourly depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
