What you'll do...
We're hiring a Distinguished Engineer to define the next era of the International POS platform the systems that keep checkout running for customers and associates across markets, every minute every day. This is a builder + architect + force-multiplier role. You will own the long term technical vision for how International POS services are engineered, deployed, observed, and operated at scale- low-latency experiences and resilience under real-world store conditions. You'll lead a platform that powers mission-critical checkout and store services with uncompromising standards for availability, performance, and security. If you want to build platforms that impact how millions of transactions happen globally, this is the seat.

What you'll do:
  • Own the platform architecture for International POS across edge and cloud-defining the north star for reliability, latency, scalability, and operability for always-on checkout and store services.
  • Drive platform modernization: standardize deployment ( Kubernetes where appropriate), strengthen resiliency, and simplify operations so teams can move faster with less risk.
  • Engineer real store conditions: design for intermittent connectivity, constrained compute, regional compliance needs, and operational realities-without compromising customer/associate experience.
  • Raise the bar across teams: establish reference architectures, golden paths, and engineering standards; mentor senior engineers; influence technical decisions across domains and markets.
  • Make reliability a feature: build observability, SLOs, automated remediation, and incident-learnings into the platform

What you'll bring:
  • Deep expertise in distributed systems and platform architecture with a track record of delivering highly available, mission-critical systems at scale (retail/store systems experience is a strong plus).
  • Hands-on strength with Kubernetes and cloud-native patterns (service networking, workload isolation, scaling, security, multi-region design), and sound judgment.
  • Proven leadership through influence: you've driven architectural alignment across multiple teams, resolved competing priorities, and shipped durable platform capabilities.
  • Operational excellence mindset: strong experience with reliability engineering, observability, incident reduction, performance tuning, capacity planning
  • Bias for action and simplification: you can take complex legacy realities, create a pragmatic path forward, and deliver measurable improvements in uptime, latency, developer productivity.
