GROUP/DIVISION SUMMARY

The Drug Product Division - North America (DPD-NA) is one of the five divisions within the Pharma Services Group. Approximately 4400 colleagues across six CDMO sites support pharmaceutical and biotechnology customers from drug product development and technology transfer through commercialization of sterile injectable and oral solid dose products.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Director, Supply Chain provides leadership for end-to-end supply chain operations at Thermo Fisher Scientific's Greenville CDMO campus. This role translates site and division priorities into supply chain plans that deliver multi-customer commitments, manufacturing continuity, inventory optimization, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance.

The role is accountable for planning, materials management, sourcing, warehouse and distribution operations, Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP), and team capability. The Director integrates customer forecasts, program milestones, materials, and capacity into executable plans, partnering with Operations, Finance, Commercial, Quality, Engineering, and Program Management.

Key Responsibilities:

Business & Supply Chain Leadership
  • Develop and execute supply chain plans aligned with the site's strategy for a complex, multi-customer CDMO portfolio.
  • Drive strong performance across customer service, schedule adherence, materials, inventory, planning, suppliers, warehouse operations, and working capital.
  • Lead S&OP and portfolio planning processes to align customer demand, capacity, materials, and program priorities.

Organizational Leadership
  • Lead and develop a high-performing supply chain team while fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.
  • Build team capability through coaching, development planning, and succession planning.
  • Provide supply chain expertise and recommendations to site leadership and key cross-functional partners.

Strategic Execution
  • Lead cross-functional improvement initiatives that strengthen responsiveness, schedule reliability, operational efficiency, and customer delivery.
  • Drive Lean, digitalization, automation, and standardization opportunities across supply chain processes.
  • Establish and manage governance and KPIs to track customer commitments and sustainable results.

Financial & Risk Management
  • Manage the Supply Chain operating budget, resource planning, and capital requirements within approved site priorities.
  • Optimize customer commitments, capacity, inventory investment, productivity, and cost through disciplined decision-making.
  • Maintain continuity and risk mitigation plans for critical materials, suppliers, demand shifts, and program changes.

Customer & Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Partner with Program Management, Commercial, Operations, Manufacturing, Engineering, Finance, Quality, and Regulatory to align customer and site priorities and resolve supply chain constraints.
  • Represent Supply Chain in customer governance, operational reviews, and other cross-functional forums as appropriate.


Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, or other business management team or related field. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of relevant supply chain management experience, with at least 5 years of people management experience.
  • Minimum 5 years leading multiple management-level leaders.
  • Demonstrated experience leading managers and/or multi-functional supply chain teams.
  • Leadership experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Strong knowledge of end-to-end supply chain management, including planning, materials, ERP/MRP, S&OP, inventory, warehousing, distribution, and order fulfillment.
  • Demonstrated success implementing transformation, change management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong financial acumen, customer-facing communication, analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Preferred
    • APICS certification.
    • Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt.
    • Experience in CDMO and GMP drug product manufacturing.

Physical Requirements:

Position requires ordinary ambulatory skills and physical coordination sufficient to move about office locations; ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch periodically for prolonged periods of time; manipulation (lift, carry, move) of light to medium weights of 10-35 pounds; arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp and type for prolonged periods of time; visual acuity to use a keyboard, computer monitor, operate equipment, and read materials for prolonged periods of time; ability to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear for prolonged periods of time.
