Full Job Description
As the Director of Strategic Finance at Talkiatry, you will own the financial strategy and growth of our new lines of business, product, and operations, and serve as the senior finance partner to our Clinical Operations, Core Operations, and Product teams. This is a high-impact, highly visible role that sits at the intersection of finance and operations, providing the analytical rigor and strategic guidance that help these teams plan, invest, and scale with confidence.
We are looking for an exceptional, proven finance leader who thinks like an owner, operates with the precision of a CFO-in-training, and has the instincts to build systems and processes that scale. You will partner with business leaders to shape budgets, headcount, and investment decisions, and build the data infrastructure that drives decision-making at the executive and board level.
You will:
Own new line of business launches and strategic initiatives. Lead financial modeling, market analysis, and diligence for new service lines, operational initiatives, and build-vs-buy decisions. Shape investment decisions and make the case for where we place our biggest bets.
Build operational and unit economics analytics. Develop models and dashboards covering clinician capacity and productivity, cost per encounter, and operational efficiency. Turn data into clear recommendations that improve performance.
Drive Product investment decisions. Work closely with Product and Engineering to evaluate roadmap investments, build business cases, and track the financial return of product initiatives against commercial and operational outcomes.
Drive the operating cadence. Lead monthly business reviews, quarterly business reviews, and board reporting for Clinical Operations, Core Operations, and our new lines of business ensuring leadership always has a clear, accurate picture of where we stand and where we're going.
Be the strategic finance partner to Clinical Operations and Core Operations. Act as a trusted advisor to each team's leaders on planning, budgeting, and resource allocation, and translate operational and strategic priorities into clear financial plans and trade-offs.
Drive budgeting and forecasting. Own the annual operating plan and rolling forecasts for Clinical Operations, Core Operations, and each new line of business, including headcount, vendor, and non-headcount spend. Provide clear variance analysis and recommendations to leadership.
You are:
Strategic Thinking: You define the path, not just the analysis. You identify the highest-leverage opportunities, build conviction around them, and drive execution not just recommendations.
Technical Rigor: You have expert financial modeling abilities three-statement models, unit economics, scenario planning and can build and own a SQL-based analytics layer end to end.
Operational & Business Acumen: You understand how healthcare delivery operations work clinician capacity, scheduling, care operations, and the cost levers that drive margin per encounter and how to partner with operators to improve them.
Product Orientation: You think in systems, write clear requirements, and push for tooling that scales. You've partnered with product and engineering teams to evaluate investments and build infrastructure that drives business outcomes.
Executive Presence: You communicate with board-level polish. You distill complex analyses into clear narratives and present confidently to the CFO and executive leadership.
High Energy & Ownership: You thrive in a fast-paced startup environment, balance long-term strategy with urgent ad hoc requests, and measure yourself by outcomes - not outputs.
Operational Leadership: You know how to translate strategy into execution. You can lead complex, cross-functional initiatives, influence stakeholders across teams, and drive measurable operational improvements across Clinical Operations, Core Operations, and our new lines of business.
You have:
10+ years of experience in strategic finance, FP&A, business partnering, investment banking, or private equity, or a mix healthcare or health tech experience strongly preferred.
Expert SQL skills you write complex queries fluently and have built reporting infrastructure that executives rely on.
AI-forward mindset you actively use AI tools in your day-to-day work to accelerate analysis, automate workflows, and raise the quality of decisions, and you can point to concrete examples of how you've done so.
Proven track record owning and scaling new businesses, products, or operational functions, and partnering with senior operational and product stakeholders to drive measurable business outcomes.
Ability to be a "player-coach" hands-on, proactive, and comfortable rolling up sleeves to get work done.
