Reporting to the Vice President and Chief Quality Officer, this position provides oversight to the clinical quality portfolio inclusive of policy, standards and audits, accreditation, infection prevention and control, as well as learning and development. In addition, this role provides strategic leadership for professional practice, competency development, and organizational learning systems that support safe, evidence-informed care delivery.
This position provides leadership in advancing quality care and safety across the organization. The role is accountable for supporting and guiding teams, monitoring key performance metrics, and ensuring compliance with standards, legislation, and organizational strategic priorities. It promotes a culture of quality and resident/client safety through change management, education, and process improvement initiatives. The Director of Quality and Professional Development leads and coordinates the Accreditation survey process and oversees the development and implementation of comprehensive quality and safety plans aligned with organizational strategic plan and goals.
The Director Quality and Professional Development partners with all sites and programs to create clinical and quality alignment with GSS' mission, vision and values that are balanced with industry contracts and standards. This role will promote evidence based practices through consultation, drive operational consistency and excellence and will function as a mentor and subject matter expert working closely with senior leadership.

Education and Other Qualifications: - Baccalaureate level of preparation in Nursing.
- Masters level preparation in Nursing, Health Administration, Quality, Education, or a related field preferred
- Certification in Gerontology an asset
- Quality Improvement / Change management education or certification preferred
- Current registration with a provincial nursing regulatory body (or eligibility), where applicable
Work Experience: - Minimum 5- 10 years experience in a leadership or supervisory role which includes financial and operational planning
- Minimum 33-5 years experience in continuing care sector, assisted living, or seniors services
- Experience with clinical quality improvement or analytics, resident/client safety, change management and resident/client/ staff engagement
- Experience in clinical quality information systems such as electronic health records and adverse event reporting
- Experience leading accreditation processes (e.g., Accreditation Canada) preferred
- Experience working in unionized environments and across multiple jurisdictions an asset

- Limitations to the role include:
- Approving research projects
- Making major changes to resident service programs
- Initiating new contracts for services and/or products
- Creating or changing classifications or rates of pay
- Operating outside collective agreements or terms of agreements, policies, procedures and legislation
