Full Job Description
Purpose

Worley is seeking a proven project leader with experience delivering large, complex mining projects, including brownfield and greenfield developments, major capital projects, and associated infrastructure.

The successful candidate will provide direction and project management to ensure projects are delivered in accordance with contractual obligations. This role defines project goals and develops strategies to achieve them; establishes a thorough understanding of client objectives, contract requirements, and Worley policies and procedures; and plans, organizes, directs, and controls projects in accordance with Worley-approved systems, processes, and requirements. The role provides leadership to project personnel through subordinate leaders and fosters a culture aligned with Worley's values. Project Managers demonstrate the leadership capabilities necessary to successfully deliver project objectives.

This position typically manages a single large or mega project, or multiple complex projects/programs that may include significant technical, commercial, or execution risk. Applying broad business and project delivery knowledge, the Project Manager develops practical solutions and drives successful outcomes. The role requires the ability to identify opportunities, challenge conventional approaches, and implement innovative concepts related to technical and functional project requirements. Solutions are developed through the interpretation of complex information, collaboration with stakeholders, and consultation with subject matter experts. The Project Manager typically manages work through Project Leads or other Project Managers and may serve as Proposal Manager for large or mega projects.

Responsibilities:
  • Makes independent decisions and recommendations while managing a significant size project. Decisions are for long-range planning, coordination, and technical decisions that can be either specific and/or far-reaching. Develops and oversees implementation of strategic programs and policies for their groups, which may impact the region, location or large project. Ability to manage multiple complex projects through others.
  • Operates with broad management authority, receiving minimal technical guidance and control. Limited only by project objectives and policies of the organization. Work is reviewed to ensure project direction meets customer standards.
  • Assigns project work and gives technical guidance to people assigned to work on large to mega sized projects. Reviews work for technical accuracy and adequacy. May have direct and indirect reports and authority for performance evaluations impacting pay. May make recommendations concerning selection, training, rating and discipline of people.
  • Expert understanding of broader systems, processes and tools related to field. Able to teach and help others. Competent in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint. Can organize information from many sources and retain as per the prescribed format and policies.
  • May be involved in the development of new systems, processes and tools.


Qualifications:
  • University Degree, or equivalent, in a related field or applicable discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Professional registration in local jurisdiction preferred; certification through a globally recognized project management organization (IPMA, APM, PMI, AIPM) preferred.
  • Significant project management, supervisory, and/or technical experience supporting mining projects; experience in EPCM and EPC project delivery environments, including site assignments; experience working in multicultural and multinational project environments; Workshare experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading large and mega mining projects with elevated technical, commercial, and execution risk, including complex project delivery models, strategic client relationships, and joint venture environments.
