Duties & Responsibilities

SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Strategic Planning
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive clinical sourcing strategy to optimize costs, enhance operational efficiency, and improve patient care outcomes across clinical categories, including laboratory, imaging, medical devices, and physician preference items
  • Evaluate and assist in vendor selection for clinical equipment, supplies, pharmaceuticals, and support services, ensuring compliance with internal, external, and regulatory standards
  • Utilize data analytics and market intelligence to inform strategic decisions, emphasizing innovation, quality improvement, and future-facing trends in clinical care delivery
  • Initiate and implement strategic plans, policies, and procedures specific to clinical sourcing, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and clinical needs
  • Identify and drive new sourcing opportunities and initiatives that expand clinical capabilities while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency
  • Establish objectives, key performance metrics, and benchmarks for clinical sourcing initiatives, ensuring alignment with departmental priorities and enterprise-wide strategic goals
  • Lead daily operational decision-making, monitor industry changes, and identify opportunities to enhance clinical sourcing's competitive positioning
  • Define, track, and report on operational and financial outcomes, ensuring continuous situational awareness of key performance indicators and resource utilization

2. Operational Performance
  • Collaborate with hospital executives, supply chain leadership, and clinical teams to assess sourcing needs, streamline processes, reduce costs, and support patient care outcomes
  • Develop sourcing strategies, negotiate vendor contracts, and establish long-term partnerships with suppliers and service providers to optimize clinical supply categories while mitigating risks
  • Stay current on industry and technological trends impacting clinical sourcing, evaluating their impact on patient care, operational performance, and organizational strategy
  • Analyze market offerings, emerging technologies, and pricing models to inform strategic planning and sourcing decision-making
  • Facilitate communication between internal and external stakeholders, fostering strong collaborative relationships that support clinical sourcing goals
  • Ensure effective contract and category management across clinical services, aligning supply strategies with patient volume, utilization trends, and operational demands
  • Possess experience in GPO contracting, local contracting, and government contracting relevant to clinical categories
  • Develop and deliver executive briefings to senior leadership, providing insights on sourcing performance, risk mitigation, and strategic opportunities
  • Perform related duties as required to support departmental and organizational objectives

3. Staff Development
  • Interview, train, supervise, and evaluate clinical sourcing staff, fostering a culture of excellence and high performance
  • Manage staff development initiatives focused on professional growth, retention, and alignment with departmental and organizational priorities
  • Conduct performance appraisals and provide ongoing feedback to staff to enhance team productivity and career development
  • Collaborate with clinical, finance, and operational teams to ensure alignment of sourcing strategies with organizational goals

4. Financial Management
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning for clinical sourcing initiatives, ensuring alignment with departmental objectives and organizational strategy
  • Oversee cost analysis and financial performance, identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost containment across clinical categories
  • Ensure financial accountability for all clinical contracts, working closely with finance teams to achieve cost targets while maintaining quality and service standards
  • Develop and manage financial reporting systems, providing senior leadership with transparent, accurate data on sourcing performance and cost savings initiatives


Minimum Qualifications
1. Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Computer Science,
Management or other related discipline from an accredited college or university; and six (6) years of satisfactory,
full-time paid responsible experience in information processing, program management, systems development or
related activity in a large governmental agency, hospital or health care facility, or hospital-related business firm,
three (3) years of which must have been in a managerial capacity; or
2. Master's degree from an accredited college or university in disciplines, as listed in "1" above, and five (5) years of
experience, as described in #2 above, one (1) year of which must have been in a managerial capacity; or
3. A satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Expertise in healthcare supply chain management and clinical sourcing operations across multiple clinical categories
  • Procurement, vendor management, and contract negotiation experience within clinical supply and service lines
  • Proficiency in cost analysis, budgeting, forecasting, supplier performance evaluation, and development of operational and financial metrics
  • Enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, contract lifecycle management (CLM) platforms, eProcurement systems, spend analytics tools, and other supply chain management technologies
  • 7 years of relevant experience with progressive leadership responsibility, specifically in clinical sourcing or healthcare supply chain management
