Job Summary
Reporting into the Power Fundamentals team, this role builds and deploys models that extend and reinforce the group's existing analytical capabilities. Responsibilities span longer-horizon forecasting, rapid-turnaround analysis, POV evaluations following each peak season, and the coordination of market fundamental studies conducted after peak events or as requested.

Job Description

Build modeling tools alongside the software vendor, partnering closely with that vendor and IT to bring solutions into production
• Advance the software on an ongoing basis with the developer, extending other modeling tools as requirements emerge
• Introduce and operationalize new fundamental models across ERCOT, PJM, and additional markets as needed
• Partner with the Regulatory Policy team in assessing proposed market design changes
• Together with the broader Power Fundamentals team, benchmark previously issued POVs on a periodic basis
• Lead market fundamentals analyses following summer and winter peak events
• Engage Power Fundamentals subscription vendors to extract full value from purchased data while strengthening provider relationships
• Balance and smooth the workload demands that accompany model development
• Take on additional assignments spanning Structuring, Fundamentals, and Quantitative Analysis

Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements
• 5+ years of prior experience in Power Modeling, Power Flow Analysis, Data Science, Quantitative Analysis, or related discipline
• Experience gained through college degree programs and/or certifications is applicable to above skills
• Production cost modeling skills and experience strongly preferred (PSO, Promod, Aurora, etc.)
• Significant experience with programming languages (SQL, Python, etc.)
• Market design experience is a plus
• Strong communication, presentation, and report preparation skills are required
• Strong analytical, mathematical, and process modeling skills and experience
• Minimum education is High School Diploma or equivalency
