Director, Pharmacy Excellence

Role Overview

The Director of Pharmacy Excellence ensures that Murphy's Pharmacies consistently deliver outstanding pharmacy operations and exceptional patient care to transform our healthcare practice. This role is critical in integrating innovative practices into daily operations while fostering a collaborative, high-performing environment among pharmacy professionals. It is a hands-on position, with the majority of time spent working directly with pharmacy teams across our locations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise daily pharmacy operations to maintain efficiency, adherence to company standards and achievement of company objectives and key performance indicators.
  • Perform ongoing evaluations of each pharmacy on operational effectiveness, client service, and pharmacy service standards, developing and implementing action plans, and addressing gaps to drive performance.
  • Review performance of pharmacy team members-including managers and pharmacists-providing coaching and mentorship to help them reach their full potential.
  • Guide pharmacy teams in adopting and integrating new strategic initiatives, ensuring successful implementation and desired outcomes.
  • Participate in creating programs aimed at process improvements and service enhancements within pharmacies in collaboration with the Support Team.
  • Identify team skill gaps and coordinate ongoing training and development opportunities to strengthen capabilities.
  • Establish and manage an internal champion program, utilizing best practice leaders to support program rollouts and operational effectiveness.
  • Highlight unique service offerings that add value to individual pharmacies and the communities they serve.
  • Ensure all operations are compliant with relevant pharmacy legislation.

Qualifications and Skills
  • B.Sc. Pharmacy or Doctorate in Pharmacy (Pharm.D.), or equivalent.
  • Licensed Pharmacist in good standing in Prince Edward Island.
  • Minimum of three years' pharmacy management experience. Multi-unit operations experience is an asset.
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, and organizational skills, with expertise in coaching and mentoring for change management.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, innovative, and constantly evolving environment.
  • Proven track record of collaborating with teams to achieve strong performance outcomes.
  • Willingness and ability to travel within PEI and Atlantic Canada, working with onsite pharmacy teams and having a hybrid office setting.
