Position Summary:

The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Cardiology at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) and Children's Wisconsin (CW), seeks a board certified / board eligible physician to join our expanding cross-sectional imaging team as Director of Pediatric and Adult Congenital Cardiac Cross-sectional Imaging. The Director of Cross-Sectional Imaging will be recognized as a clinical, academic, and administrative leader who advances the mission of Herma Heart Institute through exceptional patient care, high-quality imaging services, innovation in cross-sectional imaging, impactful scholarly contributions, faculty and trainee development, and strategic program growth. As a leader, you will drive the cardiac MRI (CMR) and cardiac CT (CCT) programs through a transformative phase of expansion, enhancing care for children and families. . We are comprised of nationally and internationally renowned, dedicated group of faculty and staff with a strong commitment to clinical care.

Position Highlights:

• Provide strategic vision, leadership, and oversight for a nationally recognized pediatric and congenital cardiac imaging program encompassing CMR, CCT, echocardiography, and advanced 3D imaging technologies.
• Join one of the nation's leading congenital heart programs within the Herma Heart Institute, supported by a large multidisciplinary team, a thriving research enterprise, and substantial institutional commitment to innovation and growth.
• Lead the continued expansion and innovation of the Herma Heart Institute's CMR, CCT, and advanced visualization programs during a transformative period of growth and investment.
• Deliver expert clinical care and interpretation of advanced non-invasive cardiac imaging studies for patients with simple and complex congenital and acquired heart disease.
• Ensure the accuracy, quality, safety, and appropriateness of all cardiac imaging studies through comprehensive quality assurance, accreditation, and performance improvement initiatives.
• Develop and execute strategic plans for program growth in partnership with Cardiology, Radiology, Heart Center, and hospital leadership, including new service development, enhancing technology, outreach initiatives, and regional expansion opportunities.
• Drive operational excellence by leading initiatives that improve imaging performance, patient outcomes, efficiency, innovation, and regulatory compliance.
• Foster strong relationships across multidisciplinary teams through exceptional communication, collaboration, and physician engagement.
• Recruit, supervise, mentor, and develop faculty, fellows, imaging staff, advanced practice providers, and administrative staff, building the next generation of leaders in cardiovascular imaging.
• Collaborate with cardiologists, surgeons, radiologists, scientists, and allied health professionals to advance a comprehensive model of congenital and pediatric cardiovascular care.
• Build and sustain a nationally recognized academic and research program in cross-sectional cardiovascular imaging, with opportunities for clinical, translational, and outcomes research.
• Maintain national reputation for excellence in clinical care, innovation, scholarship, and leadership within congenital cardiovascular imaging.
• Collaborate across the Medical College of Wisconsin, Children's Wisconsin, and the Forward Pediatric Alliance to promote innovation, research, education, and regional impact.

Department/Division Highlights:

The Director of Cross-Sectional Imaging will join a highly collaborative and rapidly growing cardiac imaging program within the Herma Heart Institute (HHI) at Children's Wisconsin and the Medical College of Wisconsin. The program includes nationally recognized expertise in cardiac MRI, cardiac CT, general echocardiography, advanced 3D imaging technology, and fetal imaging, with substantial opportunities for continued growth, innovation, and regional impact.

The successful candidate will lead and further develop a multidisciplinary imaging team consisting of pediatric cardiologists, imaging specialists, radiologists, technologists, advanced practice providers, trainees, scientists, and dedicated support staff. The program is committed to delivering exceptional diagnostic imaging services while advancing innovation, quality, and patient-centered care for children and adults with congenital and acquired heart disease.

The Director will be integrated into the Pediatric Cardiology Division within the Herma Heart Institute, one of the nation's premier congenital heart centers. The HHI comprises 3 congenital heart surgeons, 30 pediatric and adult congenital cardiologists, eight pediatric cardiac anesthesiologists, 11 pediatric intensivists, 22 advanced practice providers, and a workforce of more than 300 team members dedicated to cardiovascular care.

The Herma Heart Institute maintains a strong commitment to academic excellence and discovery. The program includes eight research-intensive principal investigators leading multiple NIH-funded and equivalent research programs, supported through the Children's Research Institute of Children's Wisconsin. In 2025, the Institute received more than $58 million in endowed support through partnership with the Children's Wisconsin Foundation to advance research, education, and clinical innovation, including strategic initiatives in precision medicine and tissue engineering for congenital heart disease.

Through the Forward Pediatric Alliance, a strategic collaboration between Children's Wisconsin and UW Health Kids/American Family Children's Hospital, faculty benefit from a broad regional network and unique opportunities for clinical expansion, education, research, and program development across Wisconsin.

Qualifications:

• Medical/Doctoral degree (MD, DO, PhD, PsyD, or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
• Board certification (or eligibility) in Pediatric Cardiology and xxx.
• State medical licensure, or eligibility to obtain license, in the state of Wisconsin.
• Rank will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful finalist.

Children's Wisconsin is an independent health care system dedicated solely to the health and well-being of children. The hospital, with locations in Milwaukee and Northeast Wisconsin, is recognized as one of the leading pediatric health care centers in the United States. Children's Wisconsin provides primary care, urgent care, emergency care, specialty care, mental and behavioral health services, community health services, foster and adoption services, child advocacy services and health insurance plans. Each year, the Children's Wisconsin team has more than 6.5 million touchpoints with kids and families through medical care, advocacy, research and education. In Northeast Wisconsin, Children's Wisconsin is expanding its services to provide increased access to outstanding pediatric subspecialty care. Children's and its joint venture with the Medical College of Wisconsin - the Children's Specialty Group (CSG) - are the largest providers of pediatric healthcare in the state, serving the children and families of Wisconsin with the highest level of care through their American College of Surgeons Level I Children's Surgery Verification Center, Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence, 72-bed Level IV NICU, Level IV Epilepsy Center, and a 72-bed PICU. In [redacted], CW and CSG had six specialties ranked by US News & World Report: cancer; cardiology and heart surgery; gastroenterology and GI surgery; neurology and neurosurgery; orthopedics; and pulmonology.
