Insignia Event Services (Glendale, AZ - In Person)
Position: Director, Operations and Facilities - Full Time/Exempt
Reports to: VP, Operations

Job Summary:

The Director of Operations & Facilities is a leadership role responsible for the strategic oversight and day-to-day management of Insignia Event Services' facilities, operations, and safety and security departments. Reporting to the VP of Operations, this position plays a critical role in ensuring that all venues operate at the highest level of efficiency, safety, and excellence - both on and off event days. The ideal candidate is a seasoned operations leader who brings a hands-on approach, a strong facilities management background, and the ability to lead high-performing teams in a fast-paced, high-volume event environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide department leadership, personnel oversight, and ongoing professional development for facilities, operations, and safety and security team members.

  • Direct and oversee the strategic work-flow, transactions, and processes for the company's facilities, operations, and safety and security department including daily operations and event operations.

  • Oversight of various functions to include event setup, conversions and tear down, facility inspections, maintenance, scheduling, and light construction.

  • Maintains records for equipment inventory and maintenance performed on all building machines/equipment.

  • Develop and implement operational policies and procedures; manage unit budget and ensure compliance with applicable business policies; ensure timely completion of required departmental, and company related paperwork.

  • Working collaboratively with third-party event vendors, including security, labor, law enforcement, housekeeping, etc.

  • Oversee the schedule use of facilities; maintain and coordinate facilities schedule while coordinating with other partners schedules.

  • Build best practice tools and processes which anticipate needs, prioritize and maximize investment dollars, and drive the best possible operational performance.

  • Prepare, review, and manage facilities budget and capital budget to ensure organizational compliance and the maximization of operational efficiencies.

  • Directs identification of event- specific security goals, objectives, and metrics consistent with the security strategic plan.

  • Oversee and manage the cleaning and maintenance of facilities and venues.

  • Hands-on facility maintenance, upkeep, repair, and installation required as-needed.

  • Oversee the maintenance of physical security systems in venues, including camera systems, access control, radio communications, and security software systems.

  • Develop and implement deferred and routine maintenance plans for the company and shared use facilities, working within allocated budgets; oversee and coordinate work of third-party contractors.

  • Develops operating procedures that conform to corporate standards, customized to the specific needs of the facility and consistent with the goals and objectives of the client, facility and corporation.

  • Ensures adherence to safety codes, ensuring adherence to OSHA guidelines and other safety-related codes. 85-146951

  • Continually inspects facilities before, during and after assigned events or clean-ups.

  • Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.

  • Attend department head meetings and staff meetings. Develop and maintain a harmonious working relationship with all the other departments.

  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in facilities management, sports management, business administration or related fields.

  • Possess a minimum of five to seven years of progressively growing experience in assigned competencies or a combination of relevant education and work experience.

  • Five or more years of demonstrated success in facilities management or related fields.

  • Experience managing full-time, part-time and/or student staff.

  • Demonstrated ability to administer high-quality events.

  • Excellent organizational, management, communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently, ability to research and offer ideas for solutions

  • Demonstrate flexibility and creative problem-solving skills.

  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple completing priorities that require strong project management and decision-making capabilities.

  • Experience developing a healthy culture within an organization where employees feel valued, engaged, and united toward the common goals of championship-level performance

  • Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for periods of up to four (4) hours in length

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.

  • Ability to work in extreme temperature fluctuations and around excessive noise.

  • Available to work on event days including nights, weekends, and holidays.


Preferred:

  • Master's degree in facilities management, sports management, business administration or related fields.

  • Experience managing collegiate and/or professional athletics facilities.

  • Experience leading and developing capital projects.
