Role Summary

Rowan Digital Infrastructure is seeking a senior energy leader to own natural gas strategy and delivery for our growing portfolio of data center campuses. At Rowan, we are redefining digital infrastructure with energy strategies that balance reliability, sustainability, and speed-to-market for hyperscale customers. The On-Site Generation practice owns Rowan's gas infrastructure strategy across the full development portfolio, delivering scalable, resilient, and cost-effective fuel supply for mission-critical data center power generation.

This role will drive Rowan's long-term energy resilience strategy by shaping innovative gas delivery solutions that enable hyperscale growth and reliability objectives. This role will own executive-level strategic partnerships with natural gas utilities, pipeline operators, local gas distribution and energy providers to negotiate firm transportation agreements, gas supply contracts, capacity reservations; structure commercial solutions for pipeline extensions and interconnections; and develop and execute hedging strategies to manage commodity price risk. This role will lead cross-functional alignment across development, engineering, sustainability, and construction teams and with hyperscale customers, and serve as Rowan's authority on regional gas availability and pipeline constraints to shape site selection and investment strategy.

The ideal candidate brings deep experience in gas infrastructure development for large industrial or mission-critical loads, a strong understanding of commercial and regulatory frameworks, a track record of leading complex negotiations from origination through execution, and the ability to structure innovative commercial frameworks and partnerships to accelerate infrastructure delivery.

Travel: Ability to travel up to (25%) for company gatherings or to project sites.

Location: Denver, CO or Seattle, WA (hybrid in-office role)

Compensation: $195K-$235K (Offers Bonus)

Essential Responsibilities
  • Own and execute Rowan's portfolio-wide natural gas strategy to ensure reliable, scalable fuel supply for on-site and campus-scale power generation for new and existing data center developments
  • Lead negotiation of firm transportation, supply agreements, and capacity reservations through execution, and structure commercial solutions for interconnections and pipeline extensions
  • Design innovative and resilient gas delivery solutions, including laterals, behind-the-meter infrastructure, and alternative fuel strategies; own hedging strategy to manage commodity price risk
  • Own adoption of emergent generation technologies by building the commercial and technical case from pilots through to portfolio deployment
  • Develop gas data analytics and market intelligence tools that streamline manual investigations and accelerate site screening, supply diligence, and infrastructure decisions
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with engineering, construction, legal, and finance teams to ensure timely, cost-effective infrastructure delivery and represent Rowan in customer discussions on resiliency and emissions
  • Shape site selection and development strategy by assessing gas infrastructure availability, cost, timing, and reliability; integrate gas planning with broader power and sustainability initiatives
  • Own business cases and investment recommendations to executive leadership and Board stakeholders, carrying accountability for gas infrastructure investment outcomes
  • Represent Rowan externally with senior executives at utilities, pipelines, and energy providers; mentor and develop team members across the organization


Education, Skills, and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (engineering, business, construction management, real estate, or similar)
  • MBA or advanced degree (preferred)
  • 12+ years of experience developing natural gas infrastructure for large industrial or critical loads (e.g., data centers, power plants, refineries, military installations)
  • 5+ years of experience working for or partnering with gas utilities, pipeline companies, power plant facilities, energy developers, EPC firms, or large energy consumers
  • Demonstrated experience leading negotiation of gas service agreements, capacity reservations, and infrastructure development agreements through execution
  • Strong understanding of gas transmission and distribution systems, regulatory frameworks, and commercial structures
  • Experience delivering on-site generation or large-scale power infrastructure (preferred)
  • Experience leading teams or major cross-functional programs in a performance-driven, fast-paced environment
  • Executive-level communication, negotiation, analytical, and organizational skills with comfort operating amid ambiguity
