Full Job Description
Director of Technology and Product
Full-Time | Exempt | Hybrid, with regular hours in Greensboro, NC office | Reports to the President & Chief Innovation Officer | $115,000 - $135,000 base, plus a bonus program for achieving goals
THE ROLE
This role takes that foundation to the next level. The practices that got us here grew up alongside the work. The next step is to standardize them, bring in the discipline of someone who has run technology as a profession, and put AI and the newer tools to work where they9ll improve what our people and our clients get from us. You9d own technology at Pinnacle: strategy, roadmap and policy, the lifecycle every initiative runs through, operations, security and infrastructure, and the vendors, the budget and what it returns. You9d report to the President, sit on the leadership team, and work directly with the founder and the leaders who built the business.
WHAT THE WORK LOOKS LIKE
You9d lead a small internal team and a set of strong outside partners: an IT Manager who reports to you, a managed services provider, the developers who build and maintain our proprietary systems, and a fractional technology advisor for the strategic questions. Choosing those partners well, briefing them clearly and holding them to what they committed to is a large part of the job, and so is knowing when the better answer is to configure what we already own or do the work ourselves.
The piece we care about most is the lifecycle. Our consultants know environmental work better than any tool does, and they bring ideas and requests constantly. Turning those into requirements, getting them built, tested, accepted and released, and making sure people adopt them is the work that matters most here. We want one disciplined way of doing it, sized for a company our size. Around it sits the rest of what a company needs from its technology leader: a roadmap leadership can plan against, policies people follow, a security posture that holds up to what our clients9 contracts and our insurance require, and a budget you can defend because you can show what it returned.
WHO DOES WELL HERE
The people who do well here want to build, and they9ve done it somewhere the budget was real and the users were down the hall. They9d rather choose the right vendor and hold them to a standard than hire a department. They aren9t drawn to the newest tool for its own sake; they9re drawn to what people will actually use, and they9re disciplined about documentation, acceptance and follow-through because they9ve seen what happens without it. They like working alongside owners who are in the business every day and want a partner in deciding where technology goes next.
WHAT YOU9D BRING
3 Seven or more years in technology, product or business-systems roles, at least three of them leading people, vendors or a portfolio of work.
3 You9ve driven a development lifecycle end to end, managing internal staff and outside developers to completion.
3 You9ve directed a managed services provider, development vendors or specialist partners, and held them to scope.
3 Working fluency across Microsoft 365, data and reporting, business applications, integrations, cloud and security, enough to challenge a specialist9s recommendation without replacing the specialist.
3 You9ve owned a technology strategy, roadmap or written policy before.
3 You write and speak clearly to executives, practitioners and engineers.
Useful but not required: an MBA or comparable business education, professional services or regulated-industry experience, SQL, the Power Platform, Azure or AWS, experience bringing AI tools into daily operations, or a credential such as Professional Scrum Product Owner, PMP or Lean Six Sigma.
WHAT WE OFFER
3 $115,000 - $135,000 base salary, based on experience, plus a bonus program for achieving goals
3 Health, dental and vision insurance
3 401(k) with employer contribution
3 Paid time off, holiday pay and company-paid life insurance
3 Certifications and continuing education paid for
3 Hybrid work with regular time in the Greensboro office
