Director of Tax / Accounting & Tax Manager

This is a highly strategic and visible leadership position, responsible for final review and sign-off of personal and business tax returns, advanced tax strategy, and team development. The ideal candidate produces, commits to replicating themselves, building confidence and technical depth across the organization.

What You'll Do

Lead with Technical Mastery
• Serve as the final reviewer and signing authority for complex individual, entity, and fiduciary tax returns.
• Oversee quality control for all tax engagements to ensure accuracy, compliance, and audit readiness.
• Interpret and apply new tax laws (e.g., SECURE Act 2.0, state apportionment, pass-through entity tax regimes) across the firm.
• Evaluate and advise on advanced client scenarios, including entity selection, M&A, real estate tax strategies, multi-state compliance, and retirement plan design.

Train and Multiply Your Impact
• Recruit, build, mentor, and elevate a technically strong, client-centered tax team.
• Design and lead technical training programs that grow team depth at every level.
• Provide thoughtful, kind, and empowering review feedback that improves work and builds judgment.
• Foster a culture where staff are coached, not just corrected.

Strategically Advise Clients
• Lead tax planning engagements with top-tier clients, including closely held businesses and high-net-worth individuals.

What You Bring
• CPA license (required)
• 10+ years of progressive experience in public accounting with advanced tax review and client-facing advisory roles with increasing responsibility
• Demonstrated ability to lead final sign-off on complex tax returns across entity types
• Proven leadership in training, mentoring, and inspiring others with clarity and kindness
• Deep technical expertise in federal and multi-state taxation
• Experience with IRS and state representation, audit defense, and controversy resolution
• Proficiency in cloud-based tax software, project management tools, and automation platforms
• Gifted at identifying gaps and creating original solutions[GF1] .
• Track record of improving processes, developing new approaches, or initiating change without being asked.

The pay range for this role is:

90,000 - 150,000 USD per year (In Office)
