This leader will own the technical strategy and delivery execution for Salesforce (Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Financial Services Cloud, and custom Apex/Lightning development), partnering closely with Product, Architecture, and business stakeholders to deliver secure, high-performing solutions that support our network of Financial Professionals.
As a senior engineering leader within the Technology organization, you will manage engineering managers and technical leads, set engineering standards and best practices for the Salesforce platform, and drive decisions on architecture, technical debt, DevOps practices, and system performance. This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership role requiring deep technical credibility, strong people leadership, and the ability to balance platform scalability with the pace of business demand.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required; MBA or related advanced degree preferred. Significant, directly relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineering managers, technical leads, and Salesforce developers, setting clear performance expectations and career development paths.
- Own the technical strategy, architecture, and long-term platform roadmap for the Salesforce ecosystem, including custom development, integrations, and third-party managed packages.
- Partner with Product Management to translate business requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable technical solutions.
- Drive engineering excellence through code quality standards, CI/CD practices, automated testing, release management, and DevOps maturity.
- Oversee system performance, scalability, and reliability of the Salesforce platform, including governance of org limits, technical debt, and platform health.
- Establish and enforce secure development practices in alignment with information security, data privacy, and financial services regulatory requirements.
- Act as the primary technical escalation point for critical incidents, complex integrations, and high-risk releases affecting the Salesforce platform.
- Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture to ensure the Salesforce platform integrates effectively with the broader technology ecosystem.
- Manage vendor and consulting relationships for Salesforce implementation partners, ensuring quality delivery and knowledge transfer to internal teams.
- Champion Agile engineering practices, participating in sprint planning, technical design reviews, and retrospectives across teams.
- Own engineering capacity planning, staffing, and budget management for the Salesforce engineering function.
- All other duties as assigned.
Basic Requirements:
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years building and architecting solutions on the Salesforce platform.
- 5+ years of people leadership experience managing engineering managers, technical leads, or senior developers.
- Deep hands-on expertise with Salesforce development, including Apex, Lightning Web Components, Salesforce APIs, and integration patterns.
- Strong knowledge of Salesforce Sales Cloud and/or Service Cloud; Financial Services Cloud experience strongly preferred.
- Proven experience leading enterprise-scale Salesforce implementations, migrations, or major platform upgrades.
- Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including CI/CD, automated testing, version control, and release management.
- Experience partnering with Product, Architecture, Security, and Compliance teams in a regulated industry.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present technical strategy and risk to senior executives.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance technical rigor with delivery speed.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
Preferred Requirements:
- Salesforce certifications (e.g., Platform Developer I/II, Application Architect, System Architect, or relevant cloud-specific certifications).
- Prior experience in wealth management, broker-dealer, RIA, or asset management environments.
- Experience with Salesforce Financial Services Cloud implementations at scale.
- Experience with DevOps tooling for Salesforce (e.g., Copado, Gearset, Salesforce DX).
