The Revenue Cycle Director provides strategic, financial, and operational leadership for all revenue cycle functions, including Patient Access, Health Information Management (HIM), Coding, Revenue Integrity, Billing, Accounts Receivable, Denials Management, and Cash Posting. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Director is responsible for optimizing net patient revenue, improving cash flow, reducing reimbursement risk, ensuring regulatory compliance, and enhancing the patient financial experience.
This position oversees the full revenue cycle continuum for a Critical Access Hospital operating under Medicare Method II reimbursement and serves as the organization's subject matter expert for revenue cycle strategy, revenue integrity, reimbursement optimization, and revenue cycle performance improvement. The Director partners closely with executive leadership, medical staff, finance, information technology, and operational leaders to drive sustainable financial performance and operational excellence.
Education Required:
- Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, accounting, finance, business, or a related field required; equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
Related Years of Experience Required: - 7 or more of progressive healthcare revenue cycle leadership experience, including multi-department management responsibility.
- Demonstrated success improving net revenue performance, reducing denials, improving cash collections, and leading organizational change initiatives.
- Experience in Critical Access Hospital, rural healthcare, or integrated provider/hospital billing environments strongly preferred.
- Experience managing Patient Access, HIM/Coding, Revenue Integrity, and Patient Financial Services functions strongly preferred.
- Epic experience highly preferred, including familiarity with HB and PB workqueues, claim edits, and charge routing.
Credential/Licensure Preferred:
- HFMA Certified Healthcare Financial Professional (CHFP)
- Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR)
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
- RHIA or RHIT
- Lean Healthcare or Six Sigma certification
Shift: Working 40 hours a week, Monday - Friday, day shift.
