The Vancouver Housing Authority (VHA) is looking for a Director of Real Estate Development. This is a tremendous opportunity for a mission-driven affordable housing developer to lead a talented and energetic team of nine staff as they help VHA build our portfolio from approximately 4,000 apartments today to over 5,000 apartments by the end of the decade.

The Vancouver Housing Authority (VHA) has an active pipeline of 4% and 9% Low Income Housing Tax Credit developments, as well as an acquisition strategy that utilizes our ability to issue tax-exempt bonds. We are also exploring innovative public/private partnerships to further increase our development capacity.
About this OpportunityThe Director of Real Estate Development functions as a member of Leadership and supports the VHA's strategic and operational objectives in the following ways:
- Leads the agency's efforts to acquire, construct, and substantially renovate affordable and mixed-income properties.
- Conceptualizes and implements complex real estate projects such as portfolio repositioning, public-private partnerships, RAD for PRAC conversions, etc.
- Acts as VHA's subject matter expert on affordable housing development and financing and manages a department of nine staff.
Pay and Benefits- In compliance with the Equal Pay & Opportunities Act, the full salary range for this position is $134,880 to $195,552. Starting salary is determined by the required qualifications for the role and the candidate's relevant experience.
- This is a full-time exempt position working primarily in the office Monday through Friday.
- We offer a generous contribution toward health care: 100% paid for employees' only medical and vision coverage, 85% paid for dependent tier coverage. 100% paid for dental.
- Up to 26 days of accrued paid time off annually in the first year (13 vacation/13 sick days), and 12 paid holidays.
- This position is required to participate in Washington PERS (Public Employee Retirement Systems).
Requirements
- BA in architecture, engineering, finance, urban planning, business administration, real estate development, planning, public policy, or related field.
- Five years of related experience in affordable housing development, public finance, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Over three years of management, administrative, and supervisory responsibility.
- Public agency experience preferred.
- Valid driver's license and access to an automobile required.
