Director of Quality Management

Aiken Regional Medical Centers, located in Aiken, South Carolina, is a 273-bed acute care facility providing top quality and safe healthcare to the residents of Aiken and surrounding communities since 1917. Aiken Regional Medical Centers has been ranked a top hospital in South Carolina by the American Heart Association for its treatment of heart attack, heart failure and Stroke, and most recently, coronary artery disease.

Additionally, Aiken Regional provides comprehensive healthcare services such as behavioral health (Aurora Pavilion Behavioral Health), emergency medical care (main hospital and ER at Sweetwater), orthopedic surgeries, maternity, rehabilitation services(Hitchcock Rehabilitation Services), imaging, and wound care.

Director of Quality Management is responsible for the overall coordination and direction of activities associated with the Quality Outcomes Management Department. Responsibilities include continuous hospital preparation and compliance with regulatory agencies; facilitation of the hospital Performance Improvement Program with the goal of positively impacting the quality and efficiency of patient care.

Duties:
  • Leads, plans, develops, implements and evaluates the ongoing regulatory preparedness structure and activities.
  • Direct and coordinate organizational compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Establishes and maintains effective and responsive relationships with leadership, medical staff, other departments and key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Directs the efforts of the Quality Improvement initiatives to ensure overall compliance with all regulatory standards including national, state, NCQA, CMS, AHRQ, and JCAHO requirements.
  • Provides guidance and feedback to team management, administrators and department heads on their application of quality improvement principles and concepts and problem-solving tools and techniques.
  • Works collaboratively with healthcare providers and the EMR team to develop disease management protocols, develop technological strategies, and support processes to facilities implementation of strategies.
  • Directs, coordinates documents, and is ultimately accountable for all system-wide Quality Improvement Program activities.
  • Develops, leads, and directs process improvement programs through planned, systematic, and ongoing processes for monitoring, evaluating and improving the quality of care provided.
  • Utilized quality assessment results to improve processes that affect patients care outcomes.
  • Coordinate onsite survey processes with regulatory agencies; both announced and unannounced.
  • Assists the Date Management Specialist in the creation and reporting of quality improvement data for both internal and external reporting purposes.

Qualifications

Requirements:

Education :
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited educational institution required. MS in Nursing preferred.

Experience:
  • 5-8 years of quality of related health care experience required. 10 years preferred.
  • Experienced in the use of statistical, security adjustment and benchmarking software and databases.
  • Experience with management in Regulatory and Accreditation preparedness preferred.
  • Expert knowledge of health and safety management strategies, quality assurance, quality improvement and continuous improvement methodologies and tools.
  • Expert working knowledge of systems theory and statistics.
  • Expert knowledge of healthcare regulations, guidelines and standards. Knowledge of licensure regulations, Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organization and state/federal standards.
  • Knowledge of Performance Improvement methodology and Outcomes Management.

License or Registration Requirements:
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in South Carolina.
