The Director of Production is accountable for labor allocation, production scheduling, and job administration - building, closing and invoicing jobs. This role provides strategic and operational leadership to ensure production objectives, schedules, and customer commitments are achieved.
Essential Responsibilities:
- 7-10 years of progressive production/operations leadership experience.
- Ensuring appropriate labor levels are available to meet production demand.
- Tracking labor by job to forecast labor requirements by job type and prevent labor mismanagement.
- Holding teams accountable for actual labor hours worked against each job.
- Maintaining daily accountability for work completion.
- Developing production schedules aligned with revenue expectations, communicating schedules to teams, and tracking progress monthly.
- Establishing and maintaining tracking spreadsheets to provide clear visibility into schedule status.
- Conducting regular production meetings with the team.
- Communicating directly with customers regarding schedule status.
- Maintaining a centralized shop production schedule accessible to all leads, providing visibility into current status and next steps.
- Holding production teams accountable for assigned jobs and resolving issues to maintain schedules and meet customer delivery expectations.
- Ensuring jobs are properly built and closed with complete and accurate work orders submitted by the Waller team.
- Ensuring jobs are closed throughout the month rather than batched at month-end, allowing for accurate and timely invoicing.
- Preparing monthly reports comparing actual results against budgeted revenue.
- Ensuring accurate cost and quantity data is provided to Accounting and supporting validation that parts are properly assigned to jobs.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Business Administration, Project Management, Manufacturing/Assembly process experience, or related field; preferred.
- Proven track record in managing complex operations and leading diverse teams.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - Operates in a professional and/or business casual office environment.
- Routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptops, photocopiers/scanners, and smartphones.
- Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
- Ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English.
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds
- Must be able to adhere to process protocol
- Strong work ethics of integrity and honesty striving for excellence in all activities employing accompanying communication.
