Full Job Description
About the role

The Director of Pricing Strategy and Governance is responsible for developing, testing, and implementing pricing strategies and governance that optimize revenue, profitability, volume, and capacity utilization while supporting Reworld's broader commercial objectives.

Reports to: Senior Director, Pricing and Product Management

Location: Florham Park, New Jersey headquarters

Work Schedule: Hybrid, three days per week in the office and two days remote

This role combines pricing strategy, analytics, governance, and cross-functional execution to turn strategic pricing concepts into actionable plans and measurable financial results. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated leader who can operate independently, identify opportunities, challenge existing approaches, and work across Regional and functional teams to drive implementation.

This role is focused on strategic oversight, governance, and implementation and is not currently responsible for day-to-day pricing administration, ERP price maintenance, or the administrative execution of annual price increases.

Reworld's revenue and pricing strategies generally fall into three primary categories:
  • Value-Based Pricing: Profiled Waste / Environmental Services utilizing internal Reworld capacity
  • Cost-Based Pricing: Profiled Waste / Environmental Services utilizing external third-party capacity
  • Competitive-Based Pricing: Municipal Waste Services, which is not a primary focus of this role

This role will have a particular focus on developing and testing Value-Based Pricing strategies that optimize the balance of price, volume, customer value, profitability, and capacity utilization. The objective is not simply to maximize price, but to determine the right commercial strategy based on the market, customer, available capacity, and long-term value to Reworld.

This role will also strengthen pricing governance across the organization, working with Regional leadership, Sales, Finance, Operations, and Product Management to create consistent decision frameworks, approval processes, and accountability while maintaining appropriate flexibility for local market conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, test, and implement pricing strategies that optimize revenue, profitability, volume, customer retention, and capacity utilization.
  • Lead Value-Based Pricing initiatives by analyzing customer value, pricing sensitivity, market alternatives, competitive positioning, capacity constraints, and commercial trade-offs.
  • Develop and manage pricing governance frameworks, including pricing guidelines, decision rights, approval thresholds, escalation processes, exception management, and ongoing compliance.
  • Partner with Regional leadership to improve pricing consistency and discipline while accounting for differences in local markets, competitive conditions, customer dynamics, available capacity, and strategic priorities.
  • Develop and maintain pricing and margin governance for third-party disposal and service activities to ensure pricing appropriately reflects underlying costs, acceptable profitability, risk, and market conditions.
  • Manage the governance and ongoing administration of the Big Deal Review process, including review criteria, required analysis, approval thresholds, roles and responsibilities, documentation, and escalation paths; ensure significant and complex opportunities receive appropriate cross-functional review; monitor adherence and identify process gaps or recurring exceptions; and partner with Finance and Operations to strengthen cost, margin, and overall deal profitability analysis.
  • Identify revenue leakage, margin improvement, and growth opportunities and develop scalable strategies, processes, and tools to capture measurable financial benefits.
  • Develop pricing models, segmentation approaches, scenario analyses, and decision frameworks to support product pricing, deal pricing, customer negotiations, and broader commercial decisions.
  • Translate approved pricing strategies into executable plans with clear ownership, timelines, success measures, and cross-functional accountability, and monitor implementation through realized results.
  • Evaluate opportunities to use technology and analytics to improve pricing decision-making, governance, execution, and visibility.
  • Translate pricing, cost, and margin analysis into clear commercial recommendations for business and senior leadership.
  • Measure the financial impact of pricing initiatives and track results including revenue, margin, volume, retention, capacity utilization, and other relevant performance metrics.

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, data analytics, or a related field encouraged.

Experience
  • 7-10+ years of progressive experience in pricing, finance, revenue management, strategy, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing pricing strategies that deliver measurable commercial and financial results.
  • Strong understanding of pricing governance, margin analysis, cost-to-serve, and commercial decision-making.
  • Experience developing or managing governance processes, decision frameworks, or approval structures across multiple business units or Regions.
  • Experience partnering with Sales, Finance, Operations, Product Management, and Regional or business leadership to execute cross-functional initiatives.
  • Hands-on experience with pricing analytics, financial modeling, scenario analysis, and business intelligence tools such as Tableau, Power BI, and advanced Excel.
  • Proven ability to translate strategy and analysis into practical processes, governance, tools, and business actions.
  • Ability to operate independently, influence across functions and levels of the organization, challenge assumptions constructively, and move initiatives from concept through implementation.

In addition to salary, this role is eligible for benefits. The benefits would include medical, prescription drug, vision, and dental plans; 401(k) plan; paid parental leave; paid time off; and paid holidays.
