Summary:
PennAero is hiring a Director of Operations at our Allfast Fastening Systems location in City of Industry, CA. Allfast Fastening Systems is a leading global manufacturer of solid and blind rivets, blind bolts, temporary fasteners, and installation tools for the aerospace industry. Our fasteners are crucial for the structural integrity of both commercial airliners and military jets. As a key supplier to major aerospace manufacturers, Allfast's products support the commercial, military, and general aviation platforms in production and in service.
Summary/Objective
The Director Operations position implements, standardizes operational practicesand possess strong leadership skills to create/innovate a teamwork environment.
Essential Functions Reporting to the General Manager, the successful candidate will beresponsible for managing the company manufacturing Operations to achievethe site's business goals
The Director, Operations will overseethe areas of Heading, Wedgelock, Plating, Heat Treat, CNC, Facilities/Maintenance, Tooling, Manufacturing, and Production Planning
Responsible for the overall direction, management and results of departmentsand carries out responsibilities in accordance with policies and applicablelaws
Directs LEAN efforts to minimize the cost of quality including scrap, reworkwhile meeting customer quality requirements
Interfaces with customers, vendors, subcontractors and ensures the organizationis in compliance with company policies and procedures
Further develops and implements performance metrics to ensure on-time-deliveryof production to customers
Collaborate closely with support functions including: Quality, HR, Finance,EH&S, Customer Service/Planning, Design Engineering, CI and R&D
Provide advice and counsel on operational issues to General Manager
Champion and support the current operating system including Policy Deployment,Lean Transformation, Strategic Sourcing and Continuous Improvement Philosophywith hands-on involvement and reinforcement
Drive and instill a culture that embraces teamwork, quality and safety ineverything we do
Determine annual Operations Capital budget
Review each expenditure request for accuracy, relevance and ROI
Manage the majority of company direct and indirect headcount resources toinclude hiring, performance review and employee development to meet productionoutput and gross margin goals
Translate and support global manufacturing strategies
Provide mentoring and training to subordinates
Establish appropriate Operations goals within the context of the globalstrategy and ensure attainment of these to support top level objectives
Ensure that performance metrics are posted and displayed, assessments areconducted, and visual management systems are maintained
Responsible for the development and maintenance of the skills definitions thatthe current Skill-Based Pay System
Process and resolves disputes and grievances in partnership with HR and GeneralManager
Establish and guide oversee SIOP process - assure effective integration betweensales, supply chain and operations for effective planning and execution
Strong organizational, communication, and presentation skills
This position is required to be onsite 5 days a week in the City of Industry, CA site.
Qualifications
RequiredEducation and Experience
B.A. or B.S. Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt is a plus or the ability to obtain certificationwithin the first year of employment
Minimumof 10+ years' experience in a related manufacturing environment with machineshop; or 10+ plus years of process/continuous improvement experience inmanufacturing, preferably aerospace
Proven record of hands-on experience in a high mix, high volume aerospaceoperation for a multimillion manufacturing company
Demonstrated ability in the core competencies for a senior level leader:delegation, developing direct reports, process management, innovationmanagement, business acumen, learning on the fly, making timely/high qualitydecisions, and hiring staffing, strategic agility, command skills and managingvision and purpose
Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and disciplines
Strong knowledge of/experience with manufacturing support functions such asQuality, Manufacturing Engineering and Facilities
Strong business acumen and customer interaction experience
Strong mentoring and coaching skills
Strong leadership skills - effective in motivating and directing a team forpositive results
Extensive background in New Product Introduction, manufacturingprocesses/methodologies/technologies
Familiarity with aerospace quality standards, systems and processes
Exhibits strong planning, organization, and analytical skills; capable ofmultitasking
Track-record demonstrating ability to effectively lead, train and motivateothers to perform required job duties
Communicates across organizational levels (written and verbally) in a fair,respectful and constructive manner
Capable of developing and managing departmental budgets and capital projects
Proficient with related manufacturing computer systems/software (MicrosoftApplications)
Able to read and understand engineering drawings and blueprints
Must have excellent communication skills both written and oral
Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although someout-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected about 5% - 15%
Compensation
In compliance with all states and cities requiring transparency of pay, the expected pay range for this position is $220,000 - $275,000.
Compensation can vary depending on several factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, experience, competencies, and geographic location. Some roles may qualify for extra incentives like equity, commissions, or other variable performance-related bonuses.
