Director of Operations

Full-Time | Exempt | Reports to the CEO

Location Texas-based HQ with travel to active project sites (energy & data center markets)

Direct Reports Project managers, site supervisors, logistics & field crews

Position Summary

The Director of Operations owns the execution of every commercial project and the day-to-day running of the business. This is the senior operating role at WEH, accountable for taking projects from award through mobilization, build-out, occupancy, and demobilization - on time, on budget, and to the standard our clients expect. The right person is equal parts field leader and business operator: comfortable on a remote job site one day and reviewing P&Ls, contracts, and crew schedules the next. They will build the systems and team that allow the company to grow.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Project Delivery
  • Own full project lifecycle for all commercial jobs - estimating handoff, mobilization, site setup, build-out, occupancy, and demobilization.
  • Hold projects accountable to schedule, budget, and scope; manage change orders and protect project margin.
  • Coordinate logistics for units, materials, utilities, and crews across multiple remote sites simultaneously.
  • Serve as the senior point of contact for clients and general contractors, ensuring expectations are met or exceeded.

Operations & Field Management
  • Direct all day-to-day operations - project managers, site supervisors, field crews, and subcontractors.
  • Build and enforce standard operating procedures, safety protocols, and quality standards across every site.
  • Manage vendor and subcontractor relationships, pricing, and performance.
  • Oversee fleet, equipment, inventory, and asset utilization to control cost and downtime.

Business & Financial Performance
  • Own operational budgets, job costing, and margin performance; report results and forecasts to the CEO.
  • Identify and execute cost-reduction and efficiency opportunities across projects and overhead.
  • Partner with leadership on bidding, capacity planning, and expansion into new commercial markets (including data center construction).
  • Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing operations team; build bench strength as the company scales.


Qualifications
  • 7+ years of progressive operations or project management leadership in construction, modular/manufactured housing, energy services, or a related field.
  • Proven track record running multiple commercial projects at once, on time and on budget.
  • Strong financial acumen - budgets, job costing, margins, and reading a P&L.
  • Experience managing remote field crews, logistics, and multi-site operations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and client-facing skills.
  • Willingness to travel to active project sites as needed.
  • Working knowledge of construction safety standards and regulatory compliance.

Preferred
  • Background in workforce housing, man-camps, or energy-sector lodging.
  • Familiarity with the oil & gas or data center / infrastructure construction markets.
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, business, engineering, or equivalent field experience.
