Director of MarketingVitaline Clinical Hydration Solutions | Lincolnwood, IL
Position SummaryReporting to the COO, with regular exposure to the President and CEO, the Director of Marketing leads Vitaline's reputation and credibility strategy with the physician and medical director community. Even after a facility partners with Vitaline, physicians and medical directors there can still decline to move a program forward, often based on outdated or negative information they've encountered about IV hydration in a skilled nursing setting. Closing that gap is the core mandate of this role.
This is a hands-on, builder-oriented position. You will personally own and execute the strategy, not just direct it, and should expect to operate as a player-coach for the first 12 to 18 months as the function takes shape.
What You'll Do- Own and personally execute the strategy to rebuild Vitaline's credibility with physicians and medical directors, including monitoring relevant professional communities and forums and building relationships with key opinion leaders.
- Translate Vitaline's upcoming independent clinical efficacy study into a physician-facing communications strategy: conferences, journal advertising, KOL engagement, and earned media.
- Build relationships with healthcare trade press and clinical media; position Vitaline leadership as thought leaders; manage crisis and reactive PR as needed.
- Partner with the Business Development team on physician- and medical-director-facing collateral, talking points, and objection-handling materials.
- Build and own Vitaline's first strategic marketing plan, with priorities, timelines, budgets, and KPIs.
- Serve as first point of contact and day-to-day overseer for Vitaline's outsourced marketing consultant firm, which handles routine campaigns and digital execution.
- Establish a light-touch, consultative messaging framework that other departments are expected to voluntarily align to for anything reaching a physician, medical director, regulator, or the broader medical community.
- Extend reputation-building work, as a secondary priority, to state surveyors and other periodic auditors who evaluate partner facilities.
What You'll NeedRequired:
- 7 to 10 years of experience, with the core of that time in PR, communications, or reputation management, ideally within healthcare or another regulated industry.
- Healthcare industry fluency: comfort with the regulatory landscape (CMS, Medicaid, MDS scoring), stakeholder dynamics, and the culture of post-acute medicine.
- A track record of managing brand perception with professional or B2B audiences, not consumer PR.
- A builder mentality: comfortable personally executing PR and reputation work, not just directing it.
- Strategic planning capability: able to build a plan with priorities, sequencing, and measurable outcomes.
- Executive presence with physician and regulatory audiences.
Preferred:
- Post-acute or long-term care specific experience.
- Experience turning a clinical study or peer-reviewed publication into a communications strategy (medical affairs, pharma, or device launch).
- Crisis or issues management experience.
- Exposure to government relations, health policy, or regulatory affairs.
Compensation & BenefitsBase salary: $100,000 to $125,000, based on experience. Performance bonus: 10 to 15% of base, tied to measurable outcomes. Vitaline offers medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) retirement plan, employer-paid $50,000 life insurance, pet insurance, and paid time off, along with career growth opportunities within a fast-growing healthcare organization.
