Salary Range: $159,200 - 170,000Reporting to the Chief Communications Officer, the Director of Marketing and Communications will expand patient access in marginalized communities, promote health outcomes, and advance Howard Brown Health's (HBH) reputation. The Director of Marketing and Communications will lead the development and execution of integrated marketing, branding, and communication strategies for Howard Brown Health. Leverages industry knowledge and best practices to promote the mission, vision and strategy of Howard Brown Health as well as supports culture enhancement and change management efforts.PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES- Designs and implements data-driven marketing campaigns to increase patient volume, improve retention, and promote service lines (e.g., primary care, dental, behavioral health) to target populations.
- Develops, strategizes, and maintains the digital channels (Web, email, social media, Clinic Screens, intranet) and ensures information accuracy, discoverability through SEO and AI, and ensures optimal local search visibility for Howard Brown Health.
- Ensures consistent brand identity, messaging, and compliance across all physical locations and digital properties. Protects the organization's credibility in a complex healthcare and political landscape.
- Develops grassroots outreach strategies, manages partnerships with local community organizations, and vendors to develop marketing and content strategies for the organization.
- Safeguards, preserves, and promotes Howard Brown Health's reputation through issues management and crisis support, in collaboration with the Chief Communications Officer. Drafts marketing and communications materials as needed.
- Creates marketing and promotional materials, social media graphics, videos and other visual needs.
- Tracks and measures reach and engagement using analytics tools. Leverages data to underpin and optimize strategy and platforms.
- Develops communication strategies that keep staff informed of organizational initiatives, policy changes, and internal events to build workplace culture and engagement.
- Oversees the marketing department's budget. Manage, mentor, and develop marketing staff and coordinate with external vendors and creative partners.
- Supervises staff, interns, and volunteers.
- Performs related work and other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Health, or related discipline required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in marketing and communications, with at least two (2) years in a leadership capacity, required.Healthcare or non-profit experience is strongly preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES (K/S/A)- Functional and proficient knowledge with Content Management Systems (WordPress), social media management tools, email marketing software, and graphic design tools.
- Ability to translate complex clinical or public health data into compelling, patient-friendly messaging.
- Ability to demonstrate an understanding and acceptance of equity, inclusion, and diversity concepts, and that they are broader than just race, ethnicity, and gender.
- Knowledge of health disparities, substance use and domestic violence issues, especially within LGBTQ community.
- Demonstrated self-awareness, in terms of understanding their own culture, identity, biases, prejudices, power, privilege and stereotypes.
- Ability to work affirmatively with gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ) and HIV positive patients.
