Description

The Director of Maintenance is responsible for the overall management and oversight of Pegasus aircraft maintenance activities across all operational locations.

 

The position serves as the Alternate Accountable Manager for the FAA Part 145 Repair Station and is responsible for carrying out the duties and responsibilities assigned to the position under the Pegasus Repair Station Manual (RSM), Quality System Manual (QSM), applicable FAA requirements, customer requirements, and company procedures.

 

The Director of Maintenance provides leadership and operational direction to maintenance personnel and ensures maintenance activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable regulatory and company requirements.

 

This is a salaried-exempt position. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. The work schedule is flexible and based on operational requirements. The position may require work outside normal business hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and other periods necessary to support a 24-hour operation. Travel to Pegasus operational maintenance stations is required as needed.

 

The Director of Maintenance reports directly to the President/General Manager.

Responsibilities

• Perform the duties and responsibilities assigned to the Alternate Accountable Manager for the Part 145 Repair Station as defined in the Pegasus RSM/QSM and applicable FAA requirements.
• Direct and oversee aircraft maintenance operations across Pegasus locations.
• Ensure maintenance activities are performed in accordance with applicable FAA regulations, approved procedures, customer requirements, and company standards.
• Direct and oversee maintenance leadership and personnel to ensure safe, compliant, efficient, and effective maintenance operations.
• Exercise appropriate operational authority within the scope of the position, company policies, RSM/QSM, and applicable FAA requirements, and escalate matters outside that authority to the President/General Manager or other designated leadership.
• Monitor maintenance staffing, qualifications, equipment, training, and resources to support operational and regulatory requirements.
• Identify operational, maintenance, staffing, compliance, and resource needs and develop and implement appropriate action plans.
• Participate in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of maintenance policies, procedures, and operational programs.
• Ensure required maintenance records, documentation, and regulatory records are complete, accurate, and maintained in accordance with applicable requirements.
• Oversee AMT training requirements and coordinate required training with appropriate internal and external resources.
• Support and participate in FAA inspections, regulatory audits, customer audits, and other compliance activities involving maintenance operations.
• Represent Pegasus in routine business and operational interactions with customers, airport officials, regulatory agencies, vendors, and other interested parties.
• Maintain appropriate communication with company leadership regarding significant maintenance, operational, regulatory, staffing, safety, and customer issues.
• Ensure maintenance activity is properly documented to support accurate and timely customer invoicing.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

• Current FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certificate.
• Minimum of five years of experience working on transport-category aircraft in a line maintenance or airline/hangar maintenance environment preferred.
• Experience with one or more of the following aircraft types preferred: A320, B767, B747, and/or B777.
• Demonstrated experience in aircraft maintenance operations and maintenance leadership.
• Ability and willingness to travel to Pegasus operational maintenance stations.
• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and customer-relations skills.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to perform the essential functions of the position.
• Ability to work effectively under operational pressure, changing priorities, and time-sensitive conditions.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment, make timely decisions, and manage competing operational priorities within the scope of assigned authority.

Language Skills

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, FAA requirements, technical manuals, company procedures, and other applicable documentation.
• Ability to prepare routine reports, correspondence, records, and other business or maintenance documentation.
• Ability to communicate effectively with employees, customers, management, regulatory personnel, airport officials, and other stakeholders, both individually and in group settings.

Mathematical Skills

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts relevant to maintenance operations, records, and business activities.

• Ability to apply sound judgment and common sense when carrying out written, oral, and diagrammatic instructions.
• Ability to identify operational and compliance issues and determine appropriate courses of action within established procedures and assigned authority.

 Work Environment 

• The work environment may include moderate to high noise levels depending on location and operational activity.
• Hearing protection may be required in designated areas and will be provided in accordance with company requirements.
• This position operates in a dynamic aviation maintenance environment and may require work at aircraft maintenance facilities, hangars, airport ramps, and other operational locations.
• The position may require flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and other periods based on operational requirements.
