Responsibilities Join our Leadership Team at Southwest Healthcare System as a Director of Laboratory!SWHS consists of two acute-care hospitals: Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar, CA and Rancho Springs Medical Center in Murrieta, CA. Southwest Healthcare Inland Valley Hospital in Wildomar, California , is a licensed 122-bed facility accredited by the Joint Commission. It is Southwest Riverside County's only designated Trauma Center and a county-designated Paramedic Base Station. The hospital performs more than 4,000 surgeries a year, and has an average of 4,000 Emergency Department visits per month. The hospital features a Bariatric Weight-Loss Surgery Center of Excellence and the region's only Total Joint Center.
Southwest Healthcare Rancho Springs Hospital in Murrieta, California , is a 120 bed acute-care hospital with the region's only Pediatric Emergency Services team (for children 14 and under) provided by board certified Rady Children's emergency medicine physicians. Rancho Springs Hospital also provides the area's only OB/Emergency Department program, which gives expectant mothers 24/7 on-site access to OB/GYN physician coverage. The Childbirth Center at Rancho Springs Hospital is the largest in the region and features spacious family-friendly private suites. Rancho's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is operated by Rady Children's.
Employee may be required to float to the other facility within Southwest Health Rancho Springs and Inland Valley Hospital based on operational needs, with appropriate orientation and competency validation provided.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIESThe Director of Laboratory is responsible for the overall management of the assigned laboratory department in an efficient, economic and quality manner. Supervises, coordinates and participates in activities of staff performing various chemical, hematological, microscopic and bacteriological tests of body fluids, exudates, and skin scrapings to obtain data for diagnosis and treatment of disease and procedures.
Demonstrates knowledge and ensures compliance with The Joint Commission and Title 22 standards and guidelines.
Demonstrates compliance with hospital policies and procedures at all times.
Demonstrates strong leadership, organization, communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrates ability to relate to clinical personnel and medical staff, as well as ability to interact well with the public.
Must have knowledge of PC and applications.
Maintains a high level of technical knowledge demonstrating expert knowledge of lab tests and their clinical significance.
Demonstrates ability to manage time effectively to complete projects
Qualifications JOB REQUIREMENTSFive (5) to Seven (7) years of clinical experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) required.
Minimum three (3) years leadership experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) or in related field required, acute care experience preferred.
MINIMUM ESSENTIAL EDUCATIONBachelor's degree in a life science or related field from an accredited College or University required.
Master's degree in related field from an accredited College or University preferred
REQUIRED LICENSURE / CERTIFICATIONSCurrent Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) License in the State of California
