IT Infrastructure Operations Director manages the IT infrastructure and oversees technical projects in alignment with organizational goals. Communication skills are required to persuade or gain cooperation and acceptance of ideas. Responsibility exists to ensure that internal customers are satisfied with service. Carries out responsibilities in accordance with Baltimore Medical System Core Values, policies/ procedures and applicable civil laws. Is accountable for efficient use of resources and support of the BMS mission.
Essential functions: - Ensures that servers, computers and networks are available and performing optimally as currently designed. Plans for future growth.
- Work in collaboration with the CIO and other functional leads within IT and HIT to develop corporate wide IT Policies and Procedures pertaining to the usage of corporate technology, data and information resources.
- Identifies, directs and implements annual ITD initiatives and promotes collaborative project planning and management processes.
- Determines security vulnerabilities and associated risks and ensures data security. Maintains disaster recovery systems and provides strategic solutions that increase data safety.
- Establishes strategic relationships and partnerships with key IT suppliers and consultants.
- Leads ITD in application of new systems technologies that support overall strategic goals of the organization.
- Work with the CIO and other leaders in IT to prepare ITD budget that is realistic and feasible.
- Coordinates IT equipment needs and requests for capital budget development. Recommends technology solutions, new products, or market opportunities to better manage activities or improve IT processes.
- Proactively works with service contractors and other healthcare organizations for electronic interfaces.
- IT policies, projects and procedures are reviewed, updated and reported on at least a annually.
- Help desk requests are monitored for resolution and completion to the customer's satisfaction. Performance is monitored using appropriate metrics and are reported to leadership.
- Provides direction to the IT infrastructure and operational staff, assigning priorities, projects and responsibilities.

- Develops and maintains systems to track projects and reports on timeliness of completion dates and status assigned to projects.
- Educates users on standard IT tools available for their use.
Security Officer Responsibilities:- Assesses infrastructure and data to identify vulnerabilities that could expose BMS to security breach.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of current security measures (firewalls, password policies, etc) and makes recommendations to improve security
- Develops and maintains policies regarding access, use of PED's to protect privacy of data.
- Provides training on IT security to staff.
- Selects and installs security products, conducts testing (simulated attacks etc.).
- Remains current on new types of cyber-crime or viruses and updates security system.
- Maintains an access control system.
- Maintains a business continuity/disaster recovery plan.
- Lead the yearly HIPAA security assessment
RequirementsEducation:Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field
OR equivalent experience and in-depth specialized training related to job duties.
Master's degree preferred.
Experience:Five years of management experience in an IT department.
Two of those years must be working in a multi-site healthcare organization as highly preferred.
Supervisory Responsibilities:This position supervises line staff.
