SummaryCarboline is seeking a
Director of Inside Technical Service to lead our Inside Technical Service team while serving as a key partner to Sales, Operations, Quality, and our customers. In this highly visible leadership role, you will guide technical strategy, mentor a team of technical experts, support major customer initiatives, and help ensure Carboline continues to deliver industry-leading coating solutions and service.
Minimum Requirements- Bachelor's degree in a Technical or Business-related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of Technical Service experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of leadership, supervisory, or management experience.
- Strong customer-facing communication and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, influence cross-functional stakeholders, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Physical Requirements- Primarily office-based role with extended computer use.
- Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
- Exposure to manufacturing, laboratory, and customer job-site environments as needed.
- Ability to travel up to 50%, including overnight travel.
Essential Functions- Lead, develop, and mentor Technical Service Engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, customer focus, and continuous improvement.
- Partner closely with Sales Leadership and Commercial teams to support business growth, strengthen customer relationships, and resolve complex product or application challenges.
- Serve as a senior technical resource for key customers, helping drive successful project outcomes and long-term customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate with Quality, Manufacturing, R&D, and Operations teams to identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and improve overall product performance.
- Drive quality initiatives, support ISO compliance efforts, and advance internal auditing and continuous improvement programs.
- Provide technical leadership on challenging projects, coating performance issues, and field application concerns.
- Review and evaluate corporate allowance requests while partnering with internal stakeholders to minimize business impact and improve customer outcomes.
- Maintain expertise in industry standards, regulations, and best practices, including NACE/AMPP, SSPC, ANSI, AWWA, maritime, and other relevant specifications.
- Communicate market trends, technical advancements, and regulatory developments to commercial and operational teams.
- Support the development and execution of departmental strategies that align with Carboline's growth objectives and customer commitments.
