Director of Information Technology

Monday-Friday, 40 hrs.

Onsite: Pembroke MA

Salary: $100,000-$125,000

Summary of Position:

The Director of Information Technology serves as New England Village's internal technology leader, providing strategic vision, oversight, and coordination of the organization's technology systems, information management practices, cybersecurity initiatives, digital transformation efforts, and technology investments.

Working collaboratively with organizational leadership, staff, system owners, and external technology partners, the Director ensures that technology services and solutions support the mission, operational effectiveness, regulatory compliance, data-informed decision-making, business continuity, and long-term sustainability of the organization.

The Director leads the development and implementation of technology strategies that strengthen communication, collaboration, knowledge management, reporting capabilities, cybersecurity, and organizational efficiency across all programs and administrative functions while ensuring that technology resources are aligned with organizational priorities and delivered effectively.

This position serves as a trusted advisor to leadership on technology investments, emerging technologies, information governance, risk management, cybersecurity, vendor performance, and system modernization. The Director is responsible for establishing organizational technology priorities, evaluating performance and outcomes, and fostering a culture that promotes the effective, secure, and responsible use of technology throughout the organization.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Technology Strategy & Organizational Leadership
  • Develop and maintain a practical multiyear technology strategy and roadmap aligned with New England Village's mission, strategic direction, operational priorities, risks, and available resources.
  • Translate organizational priorities and department needs into clear, actionable technology plans with defined priorities, timelines, resource requirements, and measures of success.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to executive and department leadership regarding technology opportunities, investments, risks, system capabilities, and emerging trends.
  • Assess the organizational effectiveness, integration, and lifecycle of technology systems, in collaboration with system owners and external technology partners, and recommend improvements that support organizational growth, service quality, staff effectiveness, and operational continuity.
  • Participate actively as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, contributing to organizational strategy, planning, risk management, and mission-aligned initiatives.
  • Establish and report on meaningful performance measures that demonstrate progress toward approved technology priorities and organizational objectives.

Information Management, Collaboration & Digital Transformation
  • Lead the ongoing modernization of New England Village's information environment, developing and advancing strategies that improve how organizational information is stored, accessed, managed, shared, protected, and utilized across all programs and administrative functions.
  • Guide the organization's transition from legacy information management practices to appropriate, secure, cloud-based systems and practices that strengthen collaboration, knowledge sharing, accessibility, operational efficiency, and long-term sustainability.
  • Establish and maintain information governance practices that promote consistency, accountability, accessibility, appropriate access, retention, version control, protection, and responsible stewardship of organizational information.
  • Lead the organizational governance, effective use, and adoption of Microsoft 365 and other approved technology platforms that support communication, collaboration, document management, workflow efficiency, reporting, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Partner with leadership and departments to evaluate existing workflows, identify opportunities for improvement, and lead or coordinate the implementation of technology solutions that reduce duplication, improve consistency, streamline operations, and support service delivery.
  • Develop and maintain an organizational approach to knowledge management that promotes information accessibility, documentation, continuity, and institutional learning across departments and locations.
  • Lead digital transformation initiatives from planning and requirements development through coordinated implementation, communication, training, adoption, evaluation, and ongoing improvement.
  • Establish and monitor meaningful performance measures related to technology adoption, information management, collaboration, workflow improvements, and project outcomes to evaluate organizational effectiveness and support continuous improvement.

Data Systems, Reporting & Organizational Insight

  • Provide leadership for the development, integration, and effective use of data systems, reporting tools, and dashboards that strengthen organizational visibility, accountability, compliance, and decision-making.
  • Collaborate with program and administrative leaders to define data needs, improve the accessibility and reliability of information, and reduce reliance on disconnected or duplicative tracking systems.
  • Establish practical standards for data quality, ownership, appropriate access, protection, documentation, and responsible use across organizational systems.
  • Support leaders and staff in using available technology and data effectively through guidance, training, tools, and accessible reporting resources.
  • Evaluate and prioritize opportunities to improve system integration, automate appropriate processes, and strengthen the flow of information across departments.


Technology Partnership, Planning & Coordination
  • Serve as New England Village's primary internal technology leader, collaborating with external technology partners, consultants, vendors, and organizational stakeholders to support strategic priorities, operational needs, and technology initiatives.
  • Coordinate organizational technology priorities, project needs, escalation processes, communication expectations, and service requirements with external technology partners to ensure that technology services effectively support organizational operations and strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborate with technology partners on information management initiatives, modernization efforts, cybersecurity priorities, system improvements, cloud-based solutions, and organizational technology goals.
  • Establish and monitor meaningful measures of external technology partner performance, service trends, recurring issues, project outcomes, cybersecurity indicators, and technology adoption to support continuous improvement, informed decision-making, and organizational planning.
  • Lead or support the evaluation, selection, coordinated implementation, and ongoing assessment of technology products, services, consultants, vendors, and solutions that support organizational priorities, operational effectiveness, and long-term sustainability.
  • Maintain sufficient organizational knowledge, documentation, system understanding, and technology records to support continuity, informed decision-making, strategic planning, and effective oversight of external technology partners.
  • Ensure that network administration, infrastructure monitoring and maintenance, server and firewall administration, technical system configuration, patching, and other specialized technical services are performed by qualified external technology partners in accordance with approved agreements and organizational requirements.

Cybersecurity, Privacy & Risk Management
  • Lead New England Village's cybersecurity and technology risk management strategy in collaboration with organizational leadership, compliance functions, and external technology partners.
  • Coordinate the ongoing assessment of technology risks, security safeguards, access controls, vulnerabilities, and remediation priorities to protect organizational, employee, and individual information.
  • Ensure that organizational technology practices support applicable privacy, security, contractual, and regulatory requirements, including HIPAA and HITECH requirements where applicable.
  • Establish and maintain organizational technology policies, standards, and procedures addressing appropriate access, acceptable use, secure information handling, administrative responsibilities, incident reporting, and related areas.
  • Coordinate security awareness, education, and practical guidance that help staff understand and carry out their responsibilities for protecting confidential information.
  • Support the review of vendor security practices and technology-related requirements associated with contracts, cyber insurance, audits, and regulatory activities, in collaboration with appropriate organizational and external resources.

Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery & Incident Coordination
  • Lead the development, documentation, testing, and ongoing improvement of technology disaster recovery and business continuity plans in coordination with organizational emergency preparedness efforts and external technology partners.
  • Work with leadership, system owners, and external technology partners to identify critical systems, recovery priorities, dependencies, communication needs, and continuity strategies.
  • Coordinate the organizational response to significant technology outages, cybersecurity events, vendor disruptions, and other technology incidents, ensuring timely escalation, communication, recovery, and follow-up.
  • Conduct or coordinate after-action reviews and ensure that lessons learned inform improvements to systems, plans, procedures, training, provider expectations, and risk controls.
  • Provide appropriate availability, leadership support, and organizational coordination for urgent technology matters outside regular business hours when necessary.

Technology Operations, Assets & Financial Stewardship

  • Provide organizational oversight of technology infrastructure, cloud services, business applications, devices, telecommunications, connectivity, and related technology resources in partnership with external technology providers.
  • Maintain accurate inventories and lifecycle plans for technology assets, software, licenses, warranties, access, system ownership, and key technical documentation.
  • Develop and manage the technology operating and capital budgets, monitor expenditures, forecast future needs, and recommend responsible allocation of organizational resources.
  • Coordinate technology purchasing and replacement planning to promote compatibility, security, reliability, standardization, and cost effectiveness.
  • Use service data, system information, user feedback, risk indicators, and project outcomes to evaluate effectiveness and guide continuous improvement.
  • Establish and monitor technology performance indicators, service metrics, cybersecurity measures, project outcomes, user adoption metrics, and organizational technology objectives to evaluate effectiveness, demonstrate value, and support data-informed decision-making.
  • Prepare and present regular technology performance reports, trend analyses, and recommendations to organizational leadership regarding technology utilization, service delivery, cybersecurity, operational risks, and technology investments.

Staff Partnership, Training & Technology Adoption

  • Build trusted relationships with staff and leaders across programs and departments, developing a practical understanding of their work, technology needs, and service environments.
  • Promote technologies and practices that are accessible, usable, secure, and responsive to staff working across administrative, residential, day, and community-based settings.
  • Develop and coordinate communications, training, guides, and implementation resources that prepare staff to use systems and technology practices confidently and effectively.
  • Provide consultation and support to departments as they evaluate needs, adopt new tools, improve workflows, and address barriers to successful technology use.
  • Foster shared accountability for responsible technology use, accurate information management, cybersecurity awareness, and continued learning.
