Director of Grants and Strategic Funding

Description:

The Director of Grants and Strategic Funding, under the supervision of the Assistant Superintendent of Administration and Finance, develops and implements a focused grant acquisition agenda to identify and pursue federal, state, local, and other funding opportunities. The Director works to strengthen and expand grant funding in support of district priorities and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of grant writing, reporting, compliance, and management.

Working Time:

The Director of Grants and Strategic Funding will be required to work 226 days, exclusive of holidays. The work day will be from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Requirements:
  • Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Certification for Supervisor/Director.
  • Experience with grant writing and management.
  • Strong skills in compliance and communication with multiple stakeholders.
  • Exemplary analytical skills and a creative problem solver.
  • Background in gathering and analyzing data as part of the grant application and monitoring process.
  • Experience with the procurement process.


Preferred Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 3-5 years of demonstrated experience in grant writing, grant administration, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience working within an urban school district.


Essential Duties:
  • Provide quarterly updates to the Superintendent of Schools on grant funding, new opportunities, progress, compliance, expenditures, and overall grant management.
  • Provide monthly grant budget updates to appropriate school and district leaders to ensure they are informed of available funds, expenditures, remaining balances, and applicable grant timelines.
  • Research and identify grant opportunities to develop additional funding resources for current and proposed district services, programs, initiatives, and administrative operations.
  • Serve as the District's clearinghouse for potential grant funding opportunities, including competitive local, state, federal, foundation, and private funding sources.
  • Collaborate with external agencies, community organizations, individuals, and other partners on potential partnership and collaborative grant applications.
  • Provide technical assistance to district personnel in identifying funding opportunities, developing proposals, preparing applications, and meeting grant requirements.
  • Plan, develop, and deliver training and professional support to district personnel related to grant-seeking, proposal development, grant management, and compliance.
  • Lead and manage work groups in the planning, development, and submission of grant proposals.
  • Research best practices, evidence-based programs, and innovative approaches to support the development of effective grant-funded programs and initiatives.
  • Manage district-level grants and coordinate with appropriate external partners as well as district and school-based staff to ensure effective implementation, fiscal oversight, compliance, and reporting.
  • Review grant proposals developed by internal or external stakeholders and provide feedback and recommendations, as appropriate.
  • Provide oral and written reports on grant acquisition efforts, awards, expenditures, program implementation, and outcomes.
  • Prepare or oversee the preparation and timely submission of all required grant reports and maintain accurate and appropriate grant records and documentation.
  • Provide leadership and direction for assigned areas of responsibility and support alignment of grant-funded initiatives with District priorities and the District Strategic Plan.
  • Represent the District consistently in a positive, professional, and collaborative manner with funding agencies, community partners, government entities, and other stakeholders.
  • Attend training sessions, conferences, workshops, and other professional development opportunities to remain current on grant regulations, funding opportunities, compliance requirements, best practices, and emerging programs.
  • Develop and maintain a professional network of peer contacts, funding agencies, and grant-related organizations to strengthen the District's grant acquisition and management capacity.


Salary: The base salary for this position will be in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Everett Teachers Association Unit B. The salary range for this position is $138,847 - $144,759.
